Weather Contingency Plan: Friday's Clap-Out

In the event of rain on Friday, the clap-out will not take place outside. Instead, we will host a smaller, modified clap-out inside the building for students and staff only.

Please Note: Dismissal will still take place at the normal time and follow standard procedures.

Thursday, May 21, is our annual Water Recess Day! Please make sure your student has an extra pair of clothes and a towel to change into after water recess. Shoes are important; please make sure your student has closed-toed shoes that stay on their feet. No sandals, slides, or flip-flops are allowed. If you have any questions, please reach out to your teacher. Sunscreen is also important to apply at home before the day starts, as we will not be applying it at school.

4th Grade Water Recess will be 9:45-10:45

3rd Grade Water Recess will be 11:00-12:00

2nd Grade Water Recess will be 1:00-2:00

1st Grade Water Recess will be 2:10-3:10

Due to the last day of Kindergarten being on May 20th, they will do a special recess day on May 20th with some fun activities. No volunteers are needed for this special recess day.

Mrs. Rogers and Mr. Smith are incredibly proud to celebrate 26 of our amazing 4th graders this week! These dedicated students successfully completed all 1,091 4th-grade typing lessons this year. That is a whole lot of practice, focus, and determination. A huge congratulations to these typing superstars—keep up the fantastic work!

KINDERGARTEN ONLY - Mark Your Calendars – Last Day of Classes: May 20, 2026

GET READY FOR SUMMER!

Students’ last day of classes will be Wednesday, May 20.

*Tussing Elementary School’s kindergarten program is not impacted by these moves and will adhere to the 2025-2026 Academic Calendar with the last day of classes being May 22.

Teachers and staff will use May 21–22 to pack classrooms for moves to the new Diley Middle School and Kindergarten Center.

We can’t wait to see everyone at the new buildings in August!

As we end the year, the PTO is so grateful for all that we were able to do this school year. From APEX to the Elf Shop, our amazing Leprechaun Beard Challenge, an unforgettable carnival-themed Staff Appreciation Week, Fun Day and so much more, we had so much fun!

This is our “why,” the reason we work so hard to fundraise, so we can continue creating special memories for our students and staff. But none of it would have been possible without all of you. Whether you donated money or items, supported our fundraisers, or volunteered your time, we simply could not have done what we did this year without the support of our school community.

We want to thank you from the bottom of our PTO hearts for all of your support. We are so grateful for this incredible school community that never ceases to amaze us with its generosity. When we ask, you deliver and we appreciate you more than words can say.

We also want to give a huge shout-out to our amazing treasurers, Laura Cassel and Julie Allison, who are wrapping up their time in this role. You will be so missed, and we are beyond grateful for all you have done. We are excited to welcome our new treasurer, Lindsey Jeffrey, who has already shown how wonderful she is. We look forward to her officially stepping into her new role next school year.

For now, we rest, we brainstorm, and we get ready for another amazing year ahead. We hope you have the most wonderful summer SCE, we’ll see you next school year!

Medication Pick-Up

If your student has medication or supplies in the clinic, please arrange to pick them up by the end of the year.

• DEADLINE: Friday, May 22nd (by 2:05 pm)

• ADULT ONLY: For safety, an adult must sign out all meds. We cannot send medication home in backpacks.

• DISPOSAL: Per policy, any items left after dismissal on May 22nd will be discarded. We cannot store medications over the summer.
