Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
We welcomed our high school students back on Tuesday as we jumped into a four-day week full of scheduling discussions, planning for our College/Career Day on February 26th, and looking ahead to wrap up our third quarter.
As a reminder, please review your student’s grades so that you can help encourage them to complete any missing assignments. With only two weeks left in the third quarter, passing classes now means students are eligible for spring sports and for prom.
Last week, I shared some information about our February 26th College/Career Day. (Please see the flyer in this newsletter to review what each grade level will be doing on that day.) As a follow up, if you are a parent of a sophomore student, your student will be taking the Practice ACT on February 26th. You will receive your student’s score report via your email. Please join the informational online meeting scheduled for March 4, 2026, to learn a little more as the LEAP team will help guide the interpretation of this report. (Reference the ACT & SAT 101 flyer in this newsletter to register for this webinar.)
We will continue with the scheduling process next week as counselors will wrap up meetings with juniors and will move on to discussions with sophomores. This is a perfect opportunity for students to share their future plans and to discuss how courses at Batavia High School might help them reach their goals as they prepare for post-secondary training.
I also want to take this opportunity to mention the Aramark Student Survey that BHS students will be taking on Monday, February 23rd during Advisory. Aramark is our food service provider, and this survey is an annual survey sent to students to gain feedback on our cafeteria options and services. Please review the survey document linked into the “Please Take Note” section and preview the survey if you would like. Then, please email Mr. Buis at buis_m@bataviaschools.org if you DO NOT wish for your student to participate. No email message from you means that you give us permission to administer this short student survey to your student.
I hope you all have a nice weekend as the cold weather makes a comeback.
In service to our Bulldogs.

Hi, Bulldog Families.
Have a great weekend.

Hello, Families.
Thankfully, we’ve had a better week of weather.
Just a couple quick reminders.
All students must enter through the main entrance by the office in the morning. Not through the science wing.
Thank you to all of the student drop offs for following our guidelines when entering and exiting the property. The traffic flow helps keep the campus safe.
Also, please do not enter the staff/student parking lot next to the school and occupy some of the parking spots that our seniors and staff need to use.
Students that are obtaining their drivers license need to see me for a parking pass before parking on the premises.
Students must park in their assigned parking spot.
Have a great weekend.
Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students

The FAFSA Application is Open!!!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2026-27 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources with you and your family as we receive it!
The Ohio Department of Higher Education would like to share that the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for all families to complete. Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov.
For additional assistance with FAFSA completion, please visit itsforyou.org, and look under the “Looking for FAFSA Help?” section for more information
