A Note from Dr. Compton
Happy Sunday, Pride!
As we head into Thanksgiving Break, I’ve been thinking a lot about gratitude . . . . the big things, the small things, and the things we sometimes brush past because life is moving a little too fast. This time of year always reminds me how important it is to slow down and take stock of what truly matters. And while it’s certainly “’tis the season” for thankfulness, this is something that’s been on my mind for about a month now.
So this week, I wanted to share six, of the many things, I’m especially thankful for:
1. Our Students
Every day, they walk through our doors ready to learn, grow, ask questions, try again, and become better versions of themselves. Their energy, curiosity, and heart make this place come alive.
2. Our Families
You trust us with what matters most, your children. You cheer us on, partner with us, and work alongside us to make sure each student thrives. That partnership means more than you know.
3. Our Staff
This Pride is filled with people who show up early, stay late, and give their very best every single day. Their commitment to teaching and caring for kids is the heartbeat of Riverwalk.
4. Our K–12 Journey Under One Roof
There’s something really special about watching our littles grow into confident middle schoolers and then into young adults ready to take on the world, all in the same community, surrounded by people who know them, cheer for them, and believe in them. Not many schools get to experience that kind of continuity, and I’m grateful every day that we do.
5. Our Board of Directors
Their steady leadership, thoughtful governance, and belief in our mission help shape the future of Riverwalk. I’m grateful for the way they support our students, staff, and families with clarity and purpose.
6. The Chance to Grow
As a school, as individuals, and as a Pride. I’m grateful for every challenge we’ve faced, every success we’ve earned, and every step we’ve taken together. Growth is rarely easy, but it’s always worth it.
As you head into the week ahead, I want to encourage you and your family to take a moment to reflect on what you’re thankful for this season. It doesn’t have to be big. Sometimes the smallest things carry the most meaning. A conversation around the dinner table, a few minutes in the car, or even a quiet moment at home can go a long way.
I hope this break gives you space to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with the people who fill your life with joy.
Wishing each of you a week full of gratitude, warmth, and peace.
