Today we congratulated the Van Raub Cafeteria Team with the Golden Spatula Award! This award was given to commend Van Raub on their hard work, effort, and enthusiasm toward making campus promotions successful!

We are planning to host our VRES Bike Rodeo on Thursday, March 9, 2023 for those interested in participating - grades PK - 5th grade. We are planning to use students' special/CAMP times for this event - however, please be aware that our schedule may be a bit more fluid and the event move a little more quickly depending on the number of participants and to respect the time of our volunteers.

Join us for our next Spirit Night at Parry's Pizzeria and Taphouse. Dine in or take out. Parry's will give 20% of the night's proceeds back to our school. Parry's Pizzeria is located at 5311 N Loop 1604, Suite 114. If you haven't checked out Parry's yet, the kids menu alone is well worth it! Please see attached flyer for more details.

Read Across America is such a joyous celebration of books, reading, and children! We have had some fun dressing up, reading together, and celebrating literacy! Our students in Kindergarten - second grade laughed and made guesses as to how the story ended with the puppet retelling of Dr. Seuss' book What Pet Should I Get? The story and the puppet show end with students wondering which pet the children in the story chose. We giggled listening to their curious comments after each show. So, students had the pleasure of deciding which pet they thought the brother and sister chose and writing about it. We also talked about making a Family Literacy Project and students got to see some of the projects that have been brought in. Your child may turn in a project anytime until we leave for our spring break! Get creative!

Our fourth graders listened to Don Tate's illustrated biography of Lonnie Johnson. The book, Whoosh!, is a great tale of perseverance that hopefully inspired our students in their own endeavors. We are looking forward to Don Tate's visit to Van Raub after spring break. This visit is sponsored by our fabulous PTO! We are so grateful! Don Tate is a Texas author and an illustrator. He will be happy to autograph any of his books during his visit, so you may want to see about ordering one of his books or purchasing one of his titles at a bookstore. He has more than 25 books to his credit. Here are a few of the titles that he has authored or illustrated. Happy Reading!

There will be no school during Boerne ISD Spring Break from Friday, March 10th to Friday, March 17th. A reminder Friday, March 10th is a Staff Development day.

Fiesta Friday is Van Raub's annual spring carnival and silent auction fundraiser. Proceeds from this event directly benefit Van Raub students and teachers. Our teachers have the opportunity to nominate students for doing fantastic things on our campus. These nominations can be for academic or character-related greatness. We believe in promoting positive character traits, student success, and of course, most importantly being a good human! A few of the many traits that we promote are kindness, empathy, perseverance, leadership, service, responsibility, compassion, honesty, and treating your neighbor the way you would want to be treated. It is great to celebrate our students each morning. We are blessed that Van Raub has so many amazing kiddos to rave about!

Birthday treats may be brought and must be store bought with a food label including an INGREDIENT LIST. This is a BISD procedure that has been in place since 2018. Treats from bakery's also must include food labels including ingredient lists. Without the store’s ingredient label, teachers and staff cannot identify food allergens of food that is brought to share throughout the class. This is particularly important if there is a class that has been identified as an allergy awareness classroom, or for example, a classroom that should not have nuts in the classroom. Also, We ask that provided treats do not require being cut and are easy to distribute since there is limited time for your student's teacher to do so.
