Carter's Corner

Good Evening!

What a joy it was to see all of our families and students back on campus for the first week of school! I want to thank Jesse Moreno for providing our campus with fresh Ethiopian coffee from Dilla Coffee on Friday, and for bringing the Dallas Mounted Police to campus to welcome our students back to campus! We also welcomed the JL Long Cheer Team, Trustee Weinberg, and Dr. Eska as we celebrated the end to a great first week!

I have received a few questions regarding some of the classes that are bigger than the ideal teacher:student ratio. As I mentioned in the last Community Compass, I have been actively monitoring our class sizes and will be making adjustments within the next two weeks to ensure our classes are structured to meet the needs of every student.

If you haven't noticed, it's hot outside! We will be monitoring the weather closely this week to ensure students are not outside if temperatures rise too high, so thank you to the PTA for organizing indoor-recess carts for our teachers to utilize if needed.

Lastly, I wanted to note that the first Pizza with the Principal has been changed to Monday, September 9th at 5:30pm! This will allow parents to join us, as well as attend the First PTA General Meeting which will happen directly after!

I hope you all had a great weekend, and can't wait to welcome you back to campus this week!

With Gratitude,

Mr. Carter

Pride Member Spotlight!

Our Pride Member of the Week is....

Mr. Brandon McDade, our K-2 Learning Specialist!

Mr. McDade took it upon himself to be helpful around campus this week, notably, he brought in ALL of our Math textbooks AND prepped Module 1 & Module 2 for teacher PICK UP!! Thank you Mr. McDade for finding ways to help the Pride make it through week 1!

This Week at Lipscomb...

This week, we will be conducting two safety drills at Lipscomb to ensure staff and students are aware of the protocols we will use to ensure safety at all times. We are also excited to show students our renovated Art Room as they engage with art during this week's specials rotation! Students will also be able to meet Ms. Miller, our French teacher, who is part of the specials rotation for this week as well!
