Transition Day
On Wednesday, you will be invited to collect your child at the end of the day from their new classroom where their new teacher will be dismissing them. (We will send out a map so you know where to go!)
You are welcome to pop in to the classroom to have a chat with the teacher at the end of the day if you wish. There will be a further opportunity in the first week of the autumn term for you to visit your child's classroom and meet the teacher. Further information on this will follow.
Communication
A reminder that an adult will always be on the door at the start and end of the school day should you need to speak to anyone. If your query has already been discussed with the class teacher and you think it needs to be escalated to a member of the leadership team, please contact the school office (either via phone or email) with a brief outline of your concerns. They will then pass the information on to the most relevant member of staff who will respond within 72 hours. Due to the nature of the roles of the SLT and the number of pupils we have in school (nearly 500), it is simply not possible for us to respond to everybody immediately or on the same day. However, any concern linked to safeguarding will always be dealt with on the same day.
On a similar note, we want to remind you to not use foul language when in the playground. We have had reports this week of parents swearing loudly at their child in the playground or when talking to staff. This simply cannot be tolerated. Thank you for your support in this.
Parking
Along with the weekly update we have sent out a joint letter from us, the Police and the Local Council. Please read the letter carefully as it contains some important reminders about parking safely and responsibly around school.
Summer Fair
We hope you can join us at our summer fair which will take place at the end of the school day on Monday 21st July. Last year's was a great success and we're really looking forward to this year's event.
Fundraising events are becoming increasingly important for schools in the current climate. As some of you might be aware, school budgets are becoming increasingly strained which means that schools, sadly, cannot continue to provide all that they once did. Fundraising events will help us to continue to fund some of the 'nice to have' or 'nice to do' things (things which we feel the children deserve) not simply the bare necessities.
School Visits
This week, Reception got the opportunity to visit the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. They all had a fantastic time and were a real credit to Low Ash.
Some Year 5 pupils also had the chance to take part in a visit to STEMfest, All pupils showed real curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the day and were consistently polite and respectful – both to the exhibition staff and to the other pupils in attendance. They all had a brilliant day!
Lockdown Practice
The pupils did brilliantly in our lockdown practice on Monday. As I said last week, we tried to present this in a way which would not cause upset. We hope it did not cause any undue anxiety to any members of the school community.
Special Events!
We thought the following event might be of interest to some of you. ReelBFD: Digital Arts, Bradford Stories showcases work created by 13 and 14-year-olds from six Bradford schools, collaborating with professional digital artists as part of the Bradford Digital Creatives project. The work can be viewed at the National Science and Media museum until 7th September.
ReelBFD: Digital Arts, Bradford Stories | Bradford 2025
The Great Adventure Build is another event which might be of interest. This is a construction project but where the children are in charge! This event is free and is suitable for children aged 4+ but a ticket is needed. Please click on the link below for further details.
Sporting Update
Yesterday we welcomed Cavendish Primary School to Low Ash for a friendly football match against our U11 girls. They all played brilliantly - well done!
Nintendo Switch 2
This week's guide is all about the Nintendo Switch 2. As more children might be upgrading to the new version of the console, it is important to understand any potential risks.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend. We will see you on Monday.
