Hello NPHS!
Latino Connection is a student organization that offers an inclusive environment that welcomes everyone interested in learning about Latino culture. We are committed to encouraging cultural awareness and unity. Our club is a safe space where Latino and non-Latino students can grow a strong sense of identity, leadership, and participation. I’m reaching out on behalf of our club to share information about an upcoming event that we are organizing from October 26th to November 13th.
For this event, Latino Connection will be creating a community altar in our school’s showcase by the Student Store to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Through this altar, we hope to spread awareness about Hispanic culture and the traditions behind this meaningful celebration. We also want to give our students and staff the opportunity to learn about the importance of honoring and remembering loved ones who have passed away. During this display, we hope it will help our school community appreciate and celebrate the beauty of the diverse Hispanic cultures.
If you would like to participate in our community altar, we ask that you bring a framed picture of a loved one, pet, artist, or author who has passed. On the back of the picture frame, please attach a piece of blue tape with your first and last name and classroom or phone number written on it. Once your picture frame is ready, you can drop it off in the main office in the designated box labeled “Photo Frame Drop-Off.” We will start collecting these on Monday, October 19th.
