8TH GRADE PARENT NIGHT AT GLHS (Re: HS Scheduling) 8TH GRADE PARENT NIGHT AT GLHS (Re: HS Scheduling)

It's hard to believe, but this week, our 8th Graders will begin meeting with High School Counselors to begin the process of scheduling for their Freshman year at GLHS!

Specifically, all 8th Grade students will attend a presentation by the HS counseling team on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH during the 7th Period "Rotation." In this meeting, counselors will present an overview of HS courses (there are LOTS of options!), required credits, and more.

We want to extend the same information to our families as well!

Please join our HS Counselors of THURSDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 11, at 6:30PM in the Gahanna Lincoln High School AUDITORIUM to better understand what the long path to graduation looks like. This information will also help you reflect with your student about what next year (and beyond) might look like!

As shared on the Ohio Department of Higher Education's website, "College Credit Plus is Ohio’s dual enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking courses from Ohio colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and postsecondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families." More information about the program can be found on the Ohio Department of Higher Education's website.

As we enter the home stretch of the 2nd Quarter, which officially ends on December 19, these next few weeks are some of the most important of the entire semester. Now is the time for students to really lean in by staying organized, putting forth their best effort, seeking feedback, and taking advantage of the support their teachers are eager to provide. Whether it’s meeting with teachers during WIN or Study Hall, asking questions in class, or revisiting assignments, every small step can make a meaningful difference in finishing the quarter strong. We also want to encourage families to keep communication lines open with us. Your partnership is essential, and together we can ensure every student has what they need to feel confident and successful heading into winter break. If you have questions or concerns at any point, please reach out. We’re here, we’re committed, and we’re cheering on our students all the way to the finish line.
