February Newsletter: Message from Crossroads Administration
Dear Crossroads Community,
Wow! The month of January flew by. We really appreciate how well everything went with our first AMI day. If we have any additional AMI days students will use the same choice board. They can choose to complete different activities from the board and turn those in to their teacher.
This week we will celebrate our 100th day of school on February 3. We are joining our kindergarteners with making it a super day. Be sure to dress up like a superhero or wear superhero shirts, hats, PJs, etc. It's sure to be a BLAST!
Please encourage your children to continue working towards their goals with becoming a better reader and mathematician. Ask them about their iReady MyPath time and how they can increase it by spending time upon it at home.
Please always reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great February!

Leader In Me: School - Home Connection
Habit 6-
Synergize! Together is better!
Work together to plan and cook a meal together.
Make an obstacle course out of items in your house. Blindfold one person. Work together to guide them through the maze!
Build a tower. Use blocks, playing cards, plastic cups, or whatever you have around. How high can you make it?
Create an add-on story. One person starts the story, and after a couple of sentences, the next person adds to the story. Keep going as long as you want! This activity could be done virtually with friends as well! Make sure you have your parent's permission when using technology.
Work together as a family to make a fun video to send to other family members.
Reflection
How did you synergize during the activity?
Message From Nurse Teresa
Clinic Housekeeping
Hello! Thank you for your partnership in helping stop the spread of germs by keeping your sick kids home. We are still in the thick of cold and flu season, so please continue to follow the below guidelines if your student is sick:
PLEASE keep your kids home if they are sick! If your student has vomited or had diarrhea or a fever within the past 24 hours, HE/SHE SHOULD STAY HOME, as he/she is still contagious.
If your child has vomited, he/she should be tolerating food before returning, as well.
If your child requires medicine to treat symptoms of illness (i.e. elevated temperature or stomachache) before school, he/she should stay home for monitoring. If your student feels sick or gets sick before school, please keep him/her home.
If your child is sent home for a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, he/she should stay home until symptom-free for 24 hours, without the use of medication.
Please help remind your kids to practice good hand hygiene and cough etiquette.
Encourage healthy habits: eat healthy foods, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water! Please send a water bottle to school with your child; this can help them if they have a cough, too.
Dental Visits This Semester
PSP (Preventative Services Program) - Scheduled to come to CRE 2/26/26 to perform fluoride application on students who turned in permission forms at the beginning of the year. A new consent form does NOT need to be completed for your student to be seen if you already completed one this year.
Big Smiles - Scheduled to come to CRE 3/30 - 4/1 to provide dental cleanings and treatment for students whose parents signed consent forms at the beginning of the year. As a reminder, parent consent is good for 18 mos, so a new form does NOT need to be completed if you already completed one this year.
If your student started school at Crossroads after the dentist came first semester, I will give your student’s teacher permission forms for you to sign and return to school if you want your student to participate in this optional service. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Kindergarten Registration
All children who will turn five before Aug. 1, 2026, are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year. Our building's registration date is February 12, 2026. Complete the pre-screening and register for our building's kindergarten enrollment event.
2026 Elementary Summer School
This year, WSD's elementary summer school intervention will be held June 2-25 and will be invitation only. Families of students who qualify will be sent an invitation on Feb. 20, and enrollment will be open Feb. 23-March 11. Keep an eye out for program invitations later this month and learn more on the Summer School offerings webpage.
Pre-K Enrollment for the 2026-27 school year will begin in February
2026-27 PreK Enrollment Opens:
Feb. 9-13: Currently enrolled and returning Pre-K families and WSD employees.
Feb. 23: All Wentzville School District residents.
To enroll in our tuition-based preschool program, students must be 3 years old by July 31 of the year they are starting preschool.
In past years, families could choose their Early Childhood location. This year, your child’s Early Childhood site will be determined by your home address. Your address falls within an elementary school attendance boundary, and that boundary determines which Early Childhood location your child will attend. If you are unsure which elementary school serves your address, you can find it using the District’s interactive boundary map.
Early Childhood Locations by Elementary School Boundary:
Barfield: Boone Trail, Crossroads, Discovery Ridge, Duello, Green Tree, Prairie View
Samuelson: Heritage, Journey, Lake View, Peine Ridge, Stone Creek, Wabash
For more information or to register, please visit the District enrollment webpage.
WSD Adjusts Schedule Starting in the 2026-27 School Year
WSD leaders are taking a step toward the District’s top strategic priority — improving academic achievement — by adjusting school schedules for the next school year. At the district level, monthly Late Start Mondays will be replaced with monthly All-District Early Release Wednesdays. At the middle and high (secondary) school level, in addition to the monthly All-District Early Release Wednesdays, the District will introduce weekly Secondary Early Release Wednesdays on full school weeks.
With these schedule changes approved by the Board of Education at the January Board meeting, the 2026-27 Academic Calendar is expected to be presented at the February Board meeting.
Liberty High School Annual Talent Show
Liberty High School's annual talent show, hosted by the LHS Key Club Chapter, is on February 13th, from 7 PM to 9 PM. All students, staff members, and members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend. This event is a great opportunity to see the talented people at Liberty, show support and excitement, and have a great evening full of fun moments. Tickets for the talent show are $5 per person, and they can be purchased online or at the door on the night of the event. For more information about the LHS Talent Show and the tickets, view the attached flyer.
Wentzville School District Updates

Inclement weather & AMI Update
As we approach the colder months, we want to re-share the District communication that has information regarding the WSD's inclement weather procedures for the 2025-26 school year. This year, snow days one and two will be traditional snow days. After our second snow day this year, we will switch to AMI (alternative methods of instruction) for snow days three through seven. Read more on what to expect this winter or view AMI assignments.
Become a School Lunch Hero
Our School Lunch Hero program aims to ensure no child leaves the cafeteria hungry. Donate to our Lunch Hero program to help WSD families struggling to keep up with paying for school breakfast and lunch. Read more about School Lunch Heroes and make a donation.
Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully
Morning Drop-Off Procedures
Drop-off is from 8:20 a.m. to 8:35 a.m. Doors close promptly at 8:35 a.m. If you arrive after this time, please bring your student to the front office to sign them in.
To keep the line moving efficiently, we ask that drivers remain in their vehicles while staff assist students.
Walkers may enter through the front or primary hallway entrances. All parents and visitors must enter through the front doors and sign in at the office.
If you need to bring your child into the building, please use the main parking lot. Parking in the diagonal bus zone slots is strictly prohibited.
Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures
All car riders and daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.
Important: Parents are no longer allowed to walk up to pick up their children. Please use the car pick-up line.
Bright blue car tags will be distributed at Meet-the-Teacher Night. If you are unable to attend, tags will be sent home with students on the first day of school. Please check with the office if you need a car tag. USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT.
When driving through the car lanes, please display the bright blue car tag on your dashboard where names can be easily seen. If you do not have a car tag, staff will need to check your ID, contact the office for clearance, and then call your child. This process slows down pick-up for everyone.
A few additional reminders:
Dismissal changes will not be accepted after 3:00 p.m.
Student safety is our top priority. Because 3:20 p.m. is a busy time, we cannot allow office checkouts after 3:20 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
If your child is a walker but will become a car rider due to inclement weather, you are responsible for notifying the school. We no longer send text messages about rainy-day dismissals.
