Willowbrook named among top Illinois schools!
We are delighted to share that Willowbrook joins all District 30 schools in being named among the best in Illinois in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Rankings. Willowbrook ranked No. 46 out of 1,360 elementary schools ranked in Illinois, putting it in the top 4% of schools in the state.
Additionally, of 846 middle schools ranked, Maple landed at No. 8, also putting Maple among the top 1% in state.
You can click the links below to read more about the methodology behind the rankings, as well as the data that informed these distinctions:
Law enforcement drill feedback
Willowbrook is required to conduct six safety drills during the school year. We've already completed a bus evacuation drill and two fire/evacuation drill. On October 20, we facilitated a law enforcement drill with the Glenview police on site. We practiced the run and hide options with our Willowbrook students. The Glenview police gave our students positive feedback on a job well done.

Halloween festivities and guidelines
Guidelines and details
We look forward to celebrating Halloween with classroom parties and an all-school parade. All students are invited to proudly wear their costumes on Friday, October 30.
- Grades 1-5, please have your child bring their costume in a bag to change into after lunch.
- Preschool and Kindergarten students should wear their costumes to school for convenience.
For safety reasons, and out of respect to our younger population of students, we ask that students DO NOT bring weapons or wear masks to school. It is difficult to judge what is a scary mask or whether a student's vision is impeded. If parents understand this policy ahead of time, families can prepare an appropriate school costume.
There will be time for students to change into their costumes or retrieve accessories from their lockers after lunch.
- The morning preschool parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. Our little ones will parade through the hallways for all to see.
- Our all-school parade begins at 1:45 p.m. Please see the map below that shows our route up and down Happy Hollow Road. We will place our preK and kindergarten students at the front of the parade.
- In the event of inclement weather, we will hold an indoor parade. We will notify parents & guardians by email no later than 1 p.m. on Halloween if we decide to move it indoors.
PTO room parents will lead classroom parties from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. This should give us enough time to open the pick-up lanes and pack the students up.
The Glenview Police will be present during the parade and positioned to support us as we safely cross the street at Lawson Rd.
Veteran's Day Assembly is Nov. 6
We would like to invite any family member or relative that is a Veteran to our assembly on Friday, November 6 at 8:45 a.m. If you would like to be a special guest please fill out the form below or call the front office at 847-498-1090.
Reminder: Please label students items
Please remember to label your student's clothing, jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, and other personal belongings with their first and last name. Our Lost & Found has grown quite a bit, and labeling items makes it much easier for us to return them to their owners. We appreciate your help in keeping belongings from getting lost and helping our Lost & Found find its way back home!
We will have our Lost & Found tables out for the Halloween festivities so family's can take a look!
Thank you!

Level up goal setting at home
Parent Power-Up:
Children are often more motivated and invested when they help set their own goals. At Willowbrook, we want students to understand that goals are not about being perfect; they are about growing. Goal setting helps students identify where they want to go, create a plan for getting there, and reflect on their progress along the way.
By regularly discussing goals and progress at home, families can help children connect their daily actions to long-term growth. These conversations build self-awareness, ownership, and confidence as students begin to recognize that their effort and choices play an important role in their success. Every small step toward a goal is another way students can level up their learning.
IDEAS TO TRY
Reflect Every Friday
Ask:
- What was your goal this week?
- What went well?
- What was challenging?
- What would you do differently next week?
Make a Plan for Obstacles
Ask:
- What might make this goal difficult?
- What will you do if that happens?
Connect Goals to School
Help your child think about goals beyond academics. Examples:
- I will be more organized.
- I will be kind to a new classmate.
- I will ask for help when I need it.
- I will keep trying when work feels difficult.
April 2027 elections for School Board
Running? File petition by Nov. 23
Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 will have four school board seats to be filled at the Consolidated Election on April 6, 2027. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2031.
Candidates for the office of the school board can begin circulating nominating petitions for signatures. The period for filing nominating petitions runs from November 16-23, 2026.
A candidate for the school board is required to file the nominating petitions, Statement of Candidacy, and receipt for filing their Statement of Economic Interests with the applicable county election clerk and not with the school board secretary or the administrative offices of the school district. The county clerk may have petition forms available, or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website.
Candidates may also want to consult the “2027 Candidate’s Guide,” which can be downloaded from the Illinois State Board of Elections website, or contact the county clerk or board of election commissioners regarding the requirements of filing. Candidates and voters can get information about District 30 from our website and learn about being a school board member from the Illinois Association of School Boards at: iasb.com/elections.
Candidates who are interested in seeking endorsement from the District 30 School Board Caucus should contact Katie Schick (kateschick0609@gmail.com) by Friday, October 16. The School Board Caucus is a committee of District 30 residents that includes families both with and without children enrolled in Willowbrook, Wescott and Maple schools. The Caucus' role is to source, screen and endorse potential school board candidates. To be considered by the Caucus, candidates will need to complete a detailed application as well as an interview. If you are interested in learning more about joining the Caucus, please contact Katie.
