Dear Families,

As we reach the end of the 2024 school year, it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our families for your unwavering support throughout the year.

It has been an absolute privilege to lead this vibrant and dynamic school community. Reflecting on the year, I am filled with pride for the many remarkable achievements of our students and staff. Together, we’ve created countless moments worth celebrating, and I am grateful for the sense of connection and collaboration that defines our school.

End of Year Excursion

To celebrate all the hard work across 2024, students from Pre-Kindy and Pre-Primary to Year 6 will be attending an End of Year excursion to see the movie Moana 2 on the final day of school.

Students will walk down with their Buddy Class to Hoyts Karrinyup to enjoy the movie and will be provided with a small bag of popcorn from the school also.

The movie is rated PG due to the action / adventure theme. If any parents are concerned and do not wish their child to attend the movie, please speak directly to your child’s classroom teacher and an alternative supervised activity will be provided for them at school.

Christmas Extravaganza

We look forward to welcoming all families and students to our Christmas Extravaganza event this Friday evening.

Students have been working very hard with Mrs Bennett in music to perfect their singing performance, and the Pre-Primary students, who under the guidance of Miss Graffin and Mrs Dieb have worked tirelessly to dramatize the story of Christmas for us A big thank you to these teachers, and all staff who have worked to prepare the students for this event.

A special thanks is also extended to our wonderful P&F committee, whose hard work and dedication have ensured that this evening is a special community event. We are very thankful for all their time and energy in the planning and coordination of this event!

A reminder to all parents, that once students have been dismissed from the nativity performance they are under your supervision. Please ensure that you are actively supervising them to ensure that an enjoyable evening is shared by all.

Farewell and thank you

I extend my thanks to Mrs Fran Abbonizzio, Mrs Annelieze Soontiens and Mrs Jodie-Lee Blake for their time and dedication to OLGC. These 3 staff conclude their contracts at the end of this year, and we wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.

First Sunday of Advent

The First Sunday of Advent is a special day that marks the beginning of a very exciting time leading up to Christmas! "Advent" is a word that means "coming" or "arrival." During Advent, we get ready for something very important – the celebration of Jesus’ birth on Christmas Day!

On this first Sunday, we light the first candle on the Advent wreath. This candle is purple and is called the Candle of Hope. It reminds us that Jesus brings hope to the world. Advent is also a time when we think about how we can be kinder, help others, and show love to those around us, just like Jesus did. Each week, another candle is lit on the Advent wreath as we get closer to Christmas, helping us feel even more excited and prepared.

Second hand Uniforms – Facebook: OLGC Uniforms – Sale or Swap page

Kids just grow so fast! Do you have outgrown uniforms that could benefit another family? Maybe you're hunting for a spare polo shirt or some extra buttons?

Here at OLGC we have a second-hand uniform sale or swap page on Facebook. This is a closed group for the OLGC families who wish to sell, swap, or provide free uniforms to our school community.

To join simply click here or search on Facebook for "OLGC Uniforms – Sale or Swap".

It is important that all sales and swaps are done without consuming the precious resources of the school. Please contact each other directly and don't ask the office to hold items awaiting pick up.

Please contact the group administrator with any questions - Terri-Ann Shilcock - jtashilcock@gmail.com.
