The Melissa High School Choir is celebrating a historic achievement, with seven soloists and the school's first-ever ensemble qualifying for the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest. These students earned their place at the state-level after competing in the Vocal and Piano contests on Saturday, Feb. 8. They will perform at the State Solo & Ensemble Contest on May 24 in Austin. The Melissa High School Wrestling teams dominated the mats at the UIL State Meet on Feb. 14-15, 2025. The Melissa High School Boys Wrestling Team finished the state meet in 4th place as a team along with one State Champion, one State Champion Runner-Up and two other wrestlers who placed in their respective weight class. The MHS Girls Wrestling ended in a notable seventh place as a team and with one State Champion and one wrestler who took 3rd in her respective weight class. Congratulations to Melissa Middle School Theatre for winning 1st place at the UIL 5A Junior One-Act Play Contest with The Terezin Promise! Several students earned individual honors, including Olivia White and Caspian Lewellen (All-Star Cast), Faith Tucker and Ryder Rose (Best Performers), Zoey Glasgow (Honorable Mention All-Star Cast), and Sophie Watson (Best Technician). A huge congratulations to these talented students and to Director Louise Hickey for her leadership and passion.

Congratulations to Amanda Daniels, Melissa ISD’s District Gifted & Talented Coordinator, on being named an Innovation Fellow by the Innovation Collaborative! One of only 25 educators nationwide selected, Amanda will help shape national STEAM initiatives. Her leadership, including her role in last year’s Mars STEAM project led by Lucinda Presley and the ICEE Success Foundation, continues to bring incredible opportunities to our students.
