The Lions Roar is Riverwalk Academy's weekly athletic newsletter. Each week we will keep you updated about what is going on in our athletic program. Introduce you to one of our student athletes, and provide you with information that is beneficial to you and your athlete as they strive to improve every day.

Sports physicals for the 24-25 year must be dated after April 1, 2024. Athletic physicals, as well as other necessary document, must be uploaded into planetHS before students are allowed to participate in athletics.

Are you in 7th-12th grade and interested in being a mascot? Please email Mr. Ball for information.

Basketball practice for students in grades 7 - 12 begins Monday, November 4, at 3:45. The first week of practice will be at Union Baptist Church (Beside Riverwalk Academy). Students must have all information uploaded in PlanetHS in order to practice. If you have any questions please contact Coach Dawson, Coach Boatwright, or Mr. Ball.

We have some amazing coaches at Riverwalk. I want to encourage our athletes and parents to take the time to nominate a coach for the Positive Coaches Alliance Coach of the Year.

The nomination window is open for the Positive Coaching Alliance Coach of the Year 2025! Coaches have a unique ability to positively impact kids through sports, and we work tirelessly every year to identify those who stand-out in their efforts! There are both Regional and National winners - take a moment to think about coaches who you can spotlight by nominating them! Consider coaches you've witnessed or people you have coached with, or even the person who coaches your own child. We receive nominations for coaches of both youth and high school athletes, so jump-in and bring someone to our attention!

Looking for a way to show off your school pride? We have stickers available for purchase on the school store for $5.00.

Athletic fees can be paid in the school store. These must be paid before your student competes in an athletic competition. Fees are used to help offset all costs associated with running an athletic program (League dues, uniforms, official costs, transportation, rental fees, etc.). Please reach out to Mr. Ball if you have any questions or need assistance.

Student athletes that are part of a varsity team before the first competition and remain with the team throughout the year will earn a varsity letter.

Letterman jackets can be purchased through Jostens.

The basic letterman's jacket for Riverwalk Academy has already been designed and can be found on the website. From there you can customize the jacket to fit your taste.
