What's New inthe Library...Monthly Newsletter (October Edition)

Exploring October through our Senses!

We have been having a busy October in the library! I have been happily donning my chef's hat most days as the students have been participating in a book tasting experience. Before entering "Ms. Pickle's Bistro" we first talk about the word taste. We talk about the fact that we taste something to see if we like it. We then discussed what it would look like to "taste" a book. We discuss the idea of not reading a book in its entirety, but instead we take a few moments to look at the front cover, back cover, layout, style etc. to see if the book might be something that we would want to read in the future. Students in 2nd-5th recorded some of these titles that they are excited to read in the future.

In Other News...

Some students were able to participate in the earthquake drill in the library!

Just a few quick notes:

  • For those of you who attended the Specialist Curriculum Night, you are probably aware that we ran out of time before I had a chance to share. The main thing that I wanted families to know is that I have created a GLES Library Info for Families website that has great links for you and your reader(s). Please reach out if you have questions!
  • Any outstanding library book fines can be paid in School Pay via the Source. (If using a cell phone, click on the little arrow in the upper left side of your screen once you have logged into the Source. It will open up various links in your students' account including School Pay).
  • Student ID numbers can also be found at the Source

Happy Reading!
