Looking Back over the 2024–2025 School Year

Looking back over the 2024–2025 school year, our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders experienced a truly memorable and exciting time at Sultan Middle School. The year kicked off with the energy of fall sports, where boys’ soccer, volleyball, and football teams showed great spirit and determination on the field and court. Alongside the athletic excitement, a brand-new club called Venture Out launched, giving students the chance to try adventurous activities like climbing, snowboarding, and mountain biking. This club quickly became a favorite for those looking to explore new challenges outside the classroom. The fall season also featured a wonderful Band and Choir Concert, where students shared their musical talents and brought the community together with beautiful performances.

As winter arrived, the excitement continued with boys’ basketball and girls’ soccer taking center stage. The school celebrated these winter sports with enthusiasm, and the chilly season was warmed up by a special Winter Soup and Supper Concert, combining great music and delicious soup for a cozy gathering. One of the highlights of the year was a fun movie night where students enjoyed watching the film Frozen together, creating lasting memories and a strong sense of school spirit.

Spring brought even more energy and achievements. The Choir shone brightly in their spring performance and participated in a Choral Contest and Festival, showcasing their hard work and passion for music. A lively swamp ball assembly had both staff and students competing in this fun and spirited game, fostering teamwork and school pride. Late winter sports like girls’ basketball and co-ed wrestling kept athletes busy before the spring track and field season took off, giving everyone a chance to sprint, jump, and throw their way to success. A special moment in the year was Step-Up Day, when 5th graders visited the middle school for an assembly led by our 8th grade WEB leaders, who warmly welcomed them and shared what to expect in their next exciting chapter of schooling.

In addition to the many activities and events that defined this year, our academic growth was just as exciting. Our teacher teaming times have made a significant impact on student success and staff collaboration. These structured opportunities for teachers to plan, reflect, and support one another have improved schoolwide positivity and allowed us to better meet the individual needs of our students. As a result of this focused teamwork, our SBA (Smarter Balanced Assessment) scores are on the rise—showing clear academic gains across grade levels. Even more exciting, we are proud to celebrate the highest number of Honors students (3.5 GPA or higher) in recent school history.

These academic milestones reflect the dedication of our staff, the hard work of our students, and the support of our families.

Looking back, this year was full of growth, fun, and unforgettable experiences for all our middle schoolers.
