Letter From the Directors
Dear Families,
As summer unfolds, we hope your days are filled with opportunities to rest, reconnect, and enjoy time together as a family. While this season offers a well-deserved break, it also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as we prepare to welcome students back for another incredible school year.
There is something special about the start of a new school year. It brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow, build new friendships, and discover new passions. Across our campus, our facilities team has been working hard to deep-clean and repaint the entire interior of our building, and our staff is already planning, preparing classrooms, and creating meaningful experiences that will challenge, inspire, and support every student from the very first day.
As we look ahead, we are reminded of the purpose that unites us as a school community. Together, we are committed to cultivating academic excellence, developing strong character, and preparing students to become thoughtful leaders who positively impact the world around them. When school and home work together, students thrive, and we are grateful for the partnership we share with each of you.
This year, we are especially excited to continue building on our strong academic programs while supporting the development of student character and executive functioning skills. Whether students are entering our school for the very first time or returning for another year, they will be welcomed into a community that values respect, perseverance, integrity, and kindness.
As you enjoy the remainder of your summer, we encourage you to continue fostering a love of learning in simple ways. Read together, explore your community, ask questions, try something new, and make memories as a family. These moments help nurture the curiosity and resilience that students carry with them into the classroom.
Thank you for choosing to partner with us in your child's education. It is a privilege to serve your family, and we are honored to walk alongside you in helping every student reach their fullest potential. We cannot wait to welcome you back to campus on August 6th for our Open House and for the first days of school the week of August 10th.
Here's to a wonderful remainder of the summer—and to an outstanding year ahead!
With excitement and gratitude,
Leanne Weyman, School Director
Breanna Warburton, Elementary Principal
Stephanie Harper, Intermediate Principal
Spotlight
PCK has advanced to the final round of voting in the Colorado Family Favorites awards! Thanks to the support of our community, PCK has been recognized as a Top 5 finalist in three categories among charter schools across Colorado:
- Favorite Charter Middle School
- Favorite Charter Elementary School Principal - Breanna Warburton
- Favorite Charter Middle School Principal - Stephanie Harper
Now, we need your help in the final round of voting to bring home the top spot in all three categories!
Voting will take place from July 15 through August 15. Votes can be cast once per day using a valid email address for verification. Voters do not have to be just PCK parents, extended family members are also welcome to partake in the voting period and we welcome all voters! Unlike the nomination phase, there is no need to submit write-in entries, PCK and our finalists will already appear directly on the ballot in each category.
This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase what makes the PCK community so special and to help highlight our school among the very best in Colorado. You can access the voting platform by clicking the button below.

Communication Devices
As we prepare to welcome students for the 2026-27 school year, we want to share an important policy update on student-owned technology adopted by both DCSD and the PCK Board of Directors for the upcoming school year.
In accordance with a new Colorado state law, all public schools are required to have a policy governing student communication devices during the school day. To meet this requirement, the Board of Directors adopted DCSD's Policy JICJA-R, which was developed with community input and aligns with the new state law.
Under this policy, students are required to keep all communication devices silenced and stored and put away throughout the entire school day. Communication devices include cell phones, music players, iPads, e-readers, electronic headphones, smartwatches, and other similar electronic devices.
This policy will take effect on the first day of school and will remain in place throughout the 2026-27 school year. We encourage families to review this expectation with their students, especially if they are accustomed to bringing communication devices to school or keeping them with them during the day. Your support in helping students understand and adjust to this change is greatly appreciated.
Calendars
Before the school year begins, we encourage you to review our academic and school calendars. These calendars are published well in advance so families have ample time to plan for performances, presentations, carpool arrangements, school breaks, and other important events throughout the year.
Our PCK Google Calendar is always available and serves as the most up-to-date source for school-wide events. While it may not include every individual classroom activity, it does feature major events such as dress-down days, early dismissal days, grade-level performances, and organizational meetings.
To access all of our school calendars, simply click the button below or use the Calendars Quick Link on our website.

Summer Reading

If you need a copy of your student’s summer reading list or would like to review the required books, please click the button below to view the lists by grade level.
Be sure to select the reading list for the grade your student will be entering this fall, rather than the grade they completed this past school year.
