R10 MTSS News Flash
a R10 Multi Tier Systems of Support Service
Texas Education Agency's May 30th Webinar on MTSS
On May 30, 2019, TEA held a webinar to address questions and concerns stakeholders had in regards to the Multi Tiered Systems of Support Framework (Academic, Behavior and SEL Supports). We have pulled out a few slides from the presentation for you to review. The theme of the MTSS Framework is Collective Responsibility through Collaboration. Please use this link http://gg.gg/dtrk9 if you would like to watch the webinar in its entirety.
TEA is committed to ensuring that we begin collaborating across departments to not only grow our students, but our capacity as educators by sharing collective responsibility for all students. TEA's MTSS Framework through Technical Assistance Network 5: Intervention Best Practice will focus on the Whole Child through Academic, Behavior and SEL Supports and Services. Please note there will be questions concerning MTSS practices and procedures throughout the TEA Onsite Visit Audit Questions. The draft of these questions can be found in the next section.
With that in mind, would you like to strengthen your Academic, Behavior and SEL Support and Services? Would you like to build a network of contacts and learn more about implementation practices and procedures for these support and services? Then the MTSS Institute: the Power of Us! is the place for you.
ESC Region 10 (R10) is hosting a two day institute (September 25-26, 2019) to review the best practices of the MTSS Framework (Universal Screeners, Progress Monitoring, Evidence Based Interventions, and Data Making Decision Teams) and learn how to systemically develop implementation practices and procedures from the district level to the campus level to the classroom level. Mr. Steven Prater, (TEA Technical Assistance Manager) and Dr. Sarah Powell, (Network 5: Intervention Best Practices Lead) will be our keynote speakers for Day 1.
It truly takes a team of people to create such a change; therefore, we are recommending a team of people attend the institute. The recommended team should be comprised of District Level Representative, Campus Administrator, Counselor, Interventionist, General Ed, EL Rep, 504 Rep, Gifted and Talented Rep, Dyslexia Rep, SLP Rep and Sped Rep. It takes collective responsibility to meet the needs of all students, whole child.
Day 1: Research Best Practices
Day 2: Implementation of District/School Wide Systems and Practices.
Both days provide participants the opportunity to access the Network/Implementation Room where Implementation Experts will be there to walk through any concerns or questions you have about your systems of support.
We are opening this event to every LEA and Charter School in the state as this opportunity provides a great place to network and build resources.
