Weekly Update- DBAIC Families 2/5
Daniel Boone Area Intermediate Center
Weekly Update 2-5-21
National School Counseling Week is Feb. 1–5, 2021:
Thank you Mrs. Bricker & Mrs. O'Rourke for all that you do. We are grateful for you and all that you do for DBAIC community.
Staff Spotlight of the Week:
Name: Chris Becker
Position: Principal
The best part of my job is: Making DBAIC a special place for our students, staff, and parents. Our goal is to be the best school in the nation!
When I am not at school, you will probably find me: Making memories with my family (wife-Holly, Sons- Carson (4 years old), Milo (1 year old), Catching up with family/friends, Watching Sports (Cowboys, Villanova, Phillies, and 76ers), Supporting local restaurants, or using the Peloton App.
What profession, other than your own, would you want to do if you could? Meteorologist
During the pandemic, I learned: Enjoy every Minute...Life is Unpredictable.
Three things you might be surprised to know about me:
1). Swimming was a major part of my life. I was a college swimmer and coach until 2015.
2).I knew I wanted to be a teacher since Middle School. 2021 is my 15th year in education. Time flies!
3). My favorite band is Huey Lewis & The News!
Next week- Mrs. Schlegel, Grade 3 teacher.
Parent/Teacher Conferences:
A reminder that Conferences will take place on 2/11/21 via Zoom. Our staff will be in touch if a conference is needed. Please email/call if you would like a conference on this date.
GOOD NEWS:
The American Legion (Post 626 Birdsboro) sponsored a "How you can prevent bullying contest" for 4th & 5th graders. Mr. Sweet (DBAIC computer teacher) incorporated the writing prompt into his lessons on cyberbullying.
The top four winners were all DBAIC students!!! They are 1st place - Donovan McKenzie (Mrs. Evans), 2nd place - Jasmine Dunning (Mrs. Asbury), 3rd place - Veronica Trice (Mr. DeLoretta), & 4th place - McKenna Rogiani (Mr. Pennington).
Congratulations students!!! Job well done!!
Winter Weather:
A reminder to dress students appropriately for the cold weather as we go outside for recess during the winter season. Thank you for your cooperation!
Health Screening Form
Please remember to complete the School Pass App each morning for every child in your home that will be coming into the building.
It is a quick and easy way to help keep our students and staff in a safe learning environment.
Just a reminder about our DBASD Health and Safety Policies. Please keep your children home if they are sick and not feeling well. A temperature of 100 or higher requires them to stay home. Any significant coughs or a combination of symptoms should require someone to be home. We are also asking for the proper wearing of masks while in the building. That means the mask covers both the nose and mouth and does not slide down. Packing a spare mask in the bookbag is good practice as well. If the mask becomes loose or does not fit properly, it does not protect anyone - including your child. Any questions, and the school nurse if available to assist in any concerns you might have.
Attendance Update:
A reminder that if your child will be absent from school - 2 steps are needed.
Please call the attendance line & provide written documentation via email/written note. Email address is the following:ICAttendance@dboone.org. Finally, the documentation should be sent into the office within 3 days of the absence. Thank you for your cooperation.

Just a reminder that if your child goes virtual that they need to do the lessons for Encore classes in the Google Classroom during that time. The work will get turned into the classroom teacher just like a live class.
Flexible Instructional Day (FID)Information:
With significant weather on the horizon that could impact our school I wanted to take a moment to review Flexible Instructional Day or FID. Daniel Boone Area School FID(s) are primary used in lieu of days off for inclement weather (i.e. snow days). Students will participate in synchronous instruction via the virtual instruction platform. The FID will follow the regularly scheduled cycle day (i.e. Day 1-5). Teaching & Learning will take place via the virtual format.
Weather brings additional challenges to our already challenging times. Please understand that in the event of technology, power, or other unforeseen circumstances teachers will communicate via our platforms as soon as possible. If you are having issues, please communicate with your teachers as soon as possible. Our staff is also working on safety nets for such situations.
If you have other questions or for more information on Flexible Instructional Days, you can go to the district website at the following link: https://www.dboone.org/Page/490.
Our last FID day was 2/2/21.
