Soaking Up the Final Days Together

The sun, warmer weather, and longer days of June are here. Together we celebrate our year of growth in learning and friendship. A full year as a school community is ending and, as we count down the final days are bittersweet.

Our first graders end a chapter of their early elementary careers and begin new chapters as 2nd graders. We are so proud of all they have brought to Memorial as students, friends, and citizens of Pitman. We cannot wait to see all they achieve. To our first graders, "Open your heart and mind like the wings of a butterfly and see then how high you can fly.” — Zeenat Aman

As this year wraps up we also have a retiring staff member, Mrs. Christe Leakan, Mrs. Beth Franchi, and Ms. Debrah Vencius. Their commitment to the Pitman School District is beyond measurable. To all of us at Memorial, they have touched our lives with talent, time, and memories we cherish. We wish them a well-deserved new journey full of joy and contentment.

To all our families, thank you all for a memorable year. Your support during this year of much change has not wavered. The relationships we have built are the foundation for our success as a school community and a district. We wish you all a restful summer and look forward to the next year to come.

Have a wonderful summer season.

A message about class placements...

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, we appreciate the trust you place in our school and staff. We understand that many families have thoughtful considerations regarding their child’s learning environment and classroom experience.

Our administrative team and teachers devote significant time and care to the class placement process. In creating balanced classrooms, we consider a variety of factors including academic needs, learning styles, social dynamics, student services, and overall classroom composition. Our goal is to ensure that every child is placed in an environment where they can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

While we welcome parent input and value the insights you may wish to share about your child’s educational needs, please understand that we are unable to guarantee specific teacher or class placement requests. Because of the many variables involved in building equitable and balanced classrooms, not all requests can be accommodated.

We ask for your trust in our professional staff and the thoughtful process used to create the best possible learning environments for all students. We are confident that each of our teachers is committed to supporting student success and helping every child thrive.

Thank you for your partnership, understanding, and continued support of our school community.

Sincerely,

Kiersten Miller

Warm Weather Considerations

Please be aware that we are outside a lot in the final days of school.

  • If you would like your student to wear sunscreen, please apply it at home in the morning before leaving. Additionally, water bottles are a must.
  • We have refilling stations, so just be sure your child comes with a water bottle in the morning, and we will keep it filled for them all day.
  • Flip flops and sandals do not go well with the blacktop and playground mulch. Please wear appropriate footwear like sneakers or other hard-soled shoes.

Our goals are to be safe and have fun.

From the desk of Nurse Lawrence...

Please pick up your student’s prescription medication from the Nurse’s Office by Friday, June 12.

School policy does not allow medications to be stored over the summer. Any medication remaining in the Nurse’s Office after June 12, including EpiPens, inhalers, and other prescription medications, will be properly discarded.

Please contact Nurse Lawrence if you have any questions or need to arrange a pickup time.
