Message from Jennifer
I want to take a moment to remind all of our Sunset View parents about our upcoming KidsFirst funded parenting workshop. Parenting can be challenging, especially when big emotions take over! Join us on Tuesday, October 27th at 9:00 a.m. for a special workshop led by Sita Mukerji, MA. We'll explore practical strategies for managing our own stress, supporting our children's big emotions, and strengthening family connections. You'll leave with tools you can put to use right away! It is not too late to RSVP to attend this valuable workshop!

The elective form is available under the “for students” section of the website. If you didn’t get a chance to watch the elective video, you can find the video there as well.

Trait of the month: Belonging 💙
Can you believe it’s already October?! This month, we are focusing on belonging and what it means to help everyone feel welcomed and included at school. In classrooms, I am popping in to discuss friendships, the difference between rude, mean, and bullying behavior, ways to resist bullying, and how to include others. We are practicing the Sunset View Way of including others by noticing who might be left out, inviting others to join, and choosing kindness in our everyday interactions.
Continue the Conversation at Home! Ask your child:
What does it look like to help someone feel like they belong?
What could you do if you notice someone sitting alone or being left out?
How can you stand up for someone or respond if you see someone being treated unkindly?

Reminders
SDUSD Updated Screen Time Policy
As we kick off the new school year, San Diego Unified is introducing a new learner-centered technology resolution to help students stay focused, healthy, and engaged in learning.
Beginning August 10, students will see a few important changes:
Video-streaming platforms, such as YouTube, will only be available on district-issued Chromebooks when enabled by teachers for instructional purposes.
Non-instructional gaming platforms will still be prohibited on district-issued devices.
Computer carts will be removed from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classrooms, while ensuring students with Individualized Education Plans, 504 Plans, or language-learning needs continue to receive appropriate access.
These updates are part of our commitment to creating learning environments where technology supports student learning, safety, wellness, and healthy development.
As a parent, you can also reduce screentime and non-instructional use of Chromebooks by activating your Blocksi Parent account to monitor and restrict access when your student is not at school. To learn more about how to use Blocksi, read this Blocksi Parent Job Aid.
To learn more about the new resolution click here and click here for the press release.
