Providence Hall High School
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Weekly Update
We had a fantastic Sadie’s Week here at Providence Hall High School! It was great to see so many students participating in spirit days, learning line dances, and ending the week with such a fun and memorable dance. It was especially entertaining watching so many of you take on the mechanical bull! A big thank you to StuCo, Ms. Beckenbach, and Ms. Morford for all their hard work in making the dance such a success.
As we head into this week, please remember that Thursday is the last day to turn in any eligible assignments before the end of the quarter. Be sure to stay on top of your work and finish strong!
This wee we are excited to announce Academic Letter applications, which recognize students who demonstrate consistent academic excellence. Be sure to review the details in the newsletter if you think you may qualify. The application deadline is Friday, April 10.
Finally, a reminder that Spring Break begins Friday, so let’s make it a productive week before a well-deserved break.
As always, please take a few minutes to review the full Principal’s Update so you don’t miss important announcements and celebrations.
Choose to have a great week, Patriots!

Giving and Receiving Constructive Feedback
Constructive feedback is one of the most important skills students can develop. In classrooms, on teams, and in activities, students are constantly learning how to improve and feedback is a key part of that process. When given well, feedback helps others grow, build confidence, and improve performance. When received well, it helps students develop resilience, self-awareness, and a willingness to learn from mistakes.
Author Ken Blanchard once said, “Feedback is the breakfast of champions.” The goal of feedback is not to criticize or tear down, but to help someone get better. This requires both honesty and respect. Students who learn to give thoughtful, specific feedback (and accept it without becoming defensive) are better prepared for college, careers, and leadership. Growth happens when we are willing to listen, reflect, and make adjustments.
When feedback becomes a normal and positive part of learning, it strengthens relationships and improves outcomes. The focus shifts from judgment to growth, helping students understand that mistakes are part of the process and improvement is always possible.
Tips for Students, Parents, & Guardians
Students, Try This:
- Give feedback that is specific and focused on improvement
- Use respectful language and tone when offering suggestions
- Listen fully before reacting when receiving feedback
- Ask clarifying questions to better understand what to improve
- View feedback as an opportunity to grow, not as criticism
Parents & Guardians, Try This:
- Model how to give feedback in a calm and constructive way
- Encourage your student to reflect rather than react defensively
- Praise effort and improvement, not just results
- Help your student see feedback as a normal part of growth
- Reinforce that learning comes from making adjustments over time
