Mustang Update
Parents – A reminder that the first nine weeks will be completed on October 18th! It is hard to believe that we have already completed the first quarter and will now focus in the 2nd nine weeks and the completion of first semester. Report cards will be mailed out as soon as we have them finalized!
Our first district Site Council meeting will be held on October 22nd at 6:00 pm in the Waterville Grade School! I have sent letters to those people who have expressed an interest in serving as representatives for the 7-12 building but we are still looking for members. If you are interested please reach out to me at msavage@valleyheights.org. Membership numbers are limited but we would appreciate the opportunity to visit with about serving. We meet quarterly and the meetings we will try to limit the time to one hour!
Congratulations to Emma Warders and Langston Gray for earning the title of BVL Individual Champions for Junior High Cross Country! These two, who were our only two junior high participants, put in quite a few early morning workouts and their hard work paid off! Congratulations are also in order for Coach Adrian Pishney! Great job Mustangs! High school cross country is now down to 3 meets! The TVL Meet, hosted by Onaga, is scheduled for October 17th. Regional cross country is at Southeast of Saline, Gypsum, KS, and is scheduled for October 26th. The 2A state meet is a little closer to home, hosted by Wamego, and is scheduled for November 2nd!
We will be hosting the 2A Volleyball Regional here at Valley Heights! This is a quad format with the three other schools being Ell-Saline, Hutch-Trinity and Hillsboro. Games start at 4:00 pm! Since this is a KSHSAA activity no passes will be honored. The only people admitted at no charge will be those whose names are on the pass gate! Admission prices are $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for students in grades K-12. Before we get to Monday the Lady Mustangs will be in action on Saturday in the TVL Tournament which will be hosted by Blue Valley – Randolph. Valley Heights. The teams in our pool will Valley Heights (#3 Seed), Centralia, Clifton-Clyde, Blue Valley, Axtell and Frankfort. Let’s cheer on our Mustangs!
We have got a very busy Monday this next week with Professional Development, the October BOE Meeting, the JH BVL Tournament and the 2A Regional all on the schedule! The BOE Meeting has been moved to 12:00 pm to help out with the schedule. We will be dismissing classes on Friday, the 18th at 12:30 pm so staff can finalize their grades and we will not have school on Monday, October 21st, because of Professional Development!
