Mustang Messenger 3/12/26
Some thoughts for the starting school year
March 27, 2026
A Message from the Principal
Dear St. Matthias Families,
Dear St. Matthias Families,
As we continue our Lenten journey, we are reminded that this is a sacred time of reflection, renewal, and preparation. Our students have been actively engaged in prayer, acts of service, and meaningful conversations as we prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter.
Easter reminds us that even after sacrifice comes renewal, hope, and new life. As a school community, we remain committed to growing not only in academic excellence, but in faith, character, and love for one another.
Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and commitment to Catholic education. It is a blessing to walk this journey with you.
With gratitude,
Dr. Streat

Re-enrollment for the 2026β2027 school year is now open!

2026β2027 Tuition Information
We understand that choosing Catholic education is a financial sacrifice, and we are grateful for your continued investment in your childβs future.
Updated tuition rates for the upcoming school year allow us to continue providing strong academic programming, faith formation, and student support services. We are proud to offer financial assistance opportunities and encourage families to reach out with any questions.
Spring Break Reminder: Attendance Matters
As you plan for Spring Break, we pray that you enjoy a safe and restful time with your family.
Please remember that attendance matters. There are 180 school days, and students who miss 20 or more days are at risk of academic consequences, including possible retention, in accordance with Maryland State Department of Education guidelines.
Extended breaks or vacations taken outside of the school calendar are classified as unexcused absences. We ask that families be mindful when planning time away from school.
Excused absences include illness, religious observances, court summons, or other approved reasons as defined by the state. Any absence outside of these reasons is considered unexcused.
Let us work together to ensure that every student is present, learning, and finishing the school year strong.
Lost & Found Reminder
With cooler mornings and warmer afternoons, many students are removing jackets and sweatshirts during the day and leaving them behind.
If your child is missing a coat, jacket, or other item, please have them stop by the main office to check the Lost & Found. We also encourage families to label items with your childβs name.

Attendance & Finishing Strong
As we enter the final quarter of the school year, consistent attendance is essential. Every instructional day matters, and we want all students present, engaged, and prepared to finish strong academically and spiritually.
Mustang Moments
This season, our students have been actively participating in Lenten reflections, prayer, and acts of service. We are proud of the way they continue to grow in faith and demonstrate what it means to live as disciples of Christ each day.
Our sixth grade students had the special opportunity to attend a Vocations Mass, where they were able to reflect on Godβs call in their lives. This experience allowed them to witness the beauty of vocations within the Church and to begin thinking about how they are each uniquely called to serve God and others. Moments like these help deepen our studentsβ understanding of faith, purpose, and service.
