A Message from the Principal
Dear Academy Families and Friends,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and rested after the February school break. First and foremost, I want to make sure families are aware that school is closed tomorrow due to the storm heading our way today!
It's uncanny to think it's the last Sunday in February. When we left for the break, we celebrated Valentine's Day with a packed outing of Book Bingo. Coming back, we'll have two special events coming out way with the Read Across America contest as well as the Academy Mystery Readers book, Dragons in a Bag starting the first week of March. We are also looking forward to our March Mathness with ST Math competition.
This week, we are also starting two health and wellness activities, the Wildcat Water Zone and the return of the 3 v 3 Basketball Tournament. The Water Zone will be an opportunity for student to learn more about fruit-infused water options as alternatives to sugary drinks. The sign ups for the 3 v 3 will come out later in the week.
Last but not least, I am happy to share the Academy Report Card. Please click here to learn more about it and all we do to promote student belonging, student learning and community involvement.
Stay warm and stay safe!
Mr. Higgins
Principal

Reminder to 5th Grade Parents
Grade 5 Residency Verification: This fall the Weymouth School Committee updated Policy JF: School Admissions to require a verification of residency for students in Grade 5. Families of students in Grade 5 will need to re-establish residency in Weymouth before transitioning to the Maria Weston Chapman Middle School next year. This procedure will enable our district to maintain accurate residency and registration data while confirming continued enrollment eligibility. More information can be found here: Gr. 5 Residency Verification
Required proof of residency documents must be submitted between January 12, 2026, and May 29, 2026. Failure to complete residency verification by May 29, 2026 may affect your child’s enrollment, and they may not have a schedule or be able to participate in school activities at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
