Dear Parents/Guardians,

February was filled with a lot of fun days. Here at Wharton School the Wildcats hit the ground running since the beginning of 2023. On Tuesday in our morning meeting the students learned and discussed Fat Tuesday and information about the Mardi Gras. Be sure to ask your child about what he/she is learning in school... Now that the month is winding down this newsletter will recap some of the amazing activities that took place during this month. Just to mention a few events included the PBIS Block party, Coding classes, Valentine's celebrations, Kindness Week, President's Day, and Black History month featuring Bruce Henry to name a few...

On Wednesday, the students earned a special treat and extra recess. Speaking on the topic of treats...per our School Board policy...no birthday treats are allowed. Only on specified school-wide celebrations. Thanks for making sure your child attends school on time. As a reminder...We need your help!!! To keep disruptions down we would request that a note or letter be sent to school if you need to do an early pick up. Please contact the office by 2:00 so that any student who rides the bus can be removed from the list.

Updates and News from Ms. Schilsky...Our School Social Worker

We encourage you to continue this conversation with your child at home. For more information or resources on how to talk to your child about sexual abuse, please visit https://www.erinslaw.org/for-parents/.

Black History Month Project

Our class has just finished a Black History Month project! Each group read through Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech and picked a quote that stood out to them. The students then illustrated their meaning behind their chosen quote and then explained it to the class.

Social Language Group/Ms. Holland and Ms. Schilsky

The students in Room 107 ended Kindness Week with making treats for the entire staff. In honor of Nurse Lynn the students made some yummy Cactus Dessert Cups. It went along the theme and "farewell". Nurse Lynn will be relocating to Arizona. The students were super excited to make connections and deliver to all of the staff.
