July/August Newsletter

Message from the Principal
Dear Coronado Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing, family fun filled summer! With only 3 weeks left of summer, I thought I'd get this "Beginning of the School Year" newsletter out sooner rather than later.
Preparations for a new school year are in full swing. Our custodial staff has officially deep cleaned every classroom! Student supplies have been ordered, received, and in your child's classroom. Teachers have their class lists and have been in and out preparing for their new groups of students. Student letters have been mailed out and should be in your post office boxes (there will be no changes to class lists). As you prepare for the new school year, please keep a few things in mind.
- All student supplies have been purchased by the district. Donations for additional supplies throughout the school year are always welcome, but not necessary. We do have a lot of previously donated backpacks, so if you are in need of one, please come see us in the office!
- If you have changed addresses during the summer, please make sure you stop by and provide a new "proof of residency" document, such as a bill with your physical address on it.
- Start now to get your kids back into a routine. Have a set bed time and start waking them up earlier. This will make it much easier for you and them those first couple of weeks back to school.
- Open House will take place on August 6th from 4pm-6pm. Please come and meet your child's teacher, and visit with our transportation staff to ensure a smooth 1st day of school.
- The Parent/Student Handbook has been updated and you can find it on our website. You will also get a paper copy at Open House. If you would like to save yourself some time, start reading through it now!
- We have Free/Reduce Lunch applications in the office, if you think you might qualify, please fill one out!
- If you are new to our community and/or have not yet enrolled your child, please come do that now, this will ensure your child gets to start on the first day and we will have everything ready for them.
- 1st Day of School Info: Doors open at 7:45am. You are welcome to take your student to their classroom for the 1st week of school, but we do ask that you exit the building by 8:15am so teachers can get their day started! After that, for security reasons, we ask that parents do not go passed the front office without a visitor pass.
- If you would like to be a parent volunteer in your child's classroom or assist with PE, please complete the Volunteer Application Form on the District Website. On the employment page, scroll down to Volunteer to complete the form.
We are looking forward to another great year at Coronado Elementary School! If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Courtney Bond, Principal
