MARAUDER FOOTBALL FOR THE WIN!
Marauder Pride! Our Marauder football players brought home the win this week, showing what it truly means to demonstrate the A.C.C.E.P.T. core values of perseverance and teamwork. Through grit, unity, and determination, they never gave up and worked together to achieve victory. Way to go, Marauders!
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Mitchell Families,
After a well-earned Fall Break for both students and staff, a time devoted to rest, recharging, and reconnecting, hopefully, everyone returns with a sense of renewal. In addition to promoting wellness and balance, the break provided opportunities for meaningful events, including Parent-Teacher Conferences, the Mitchell Parent Academy, and professional development. These experiences not only fostered valuable dialogue between families and educators but also helped staff enhance their instructional practices. With this renewed energy, our staff is ready to support our students’ academic journey.
Looking ahead, several important events are taking place at Mitchell High School this week. From October 15 to November 20, parents and guardians are encouraged to complete the 5Essentials Parent Survey. By sharing your feedback, you help us understand our school’s culture and climate, guiding improvements that directly impact student success. Research shows that parent input is linked to better academic achievement, attendance, and graduation rates. https://survey.5-essentials.org/sd11/survey/parent
On Monday, October 27, the Space Foundation will visit for a special school-wide assembly featuring a live conversation with an astronaut. This event will serve as our Future Ready lesson for the day. Second block teachers are asked to escort their students to the auditorium and remain with their classes to help maintain engagement and uphold ACCEPT Core Values through respectful behavior.
Midweek, on Wednesday, October 29, twenty-five selected students will take the PSAT/NMSQT, which is a key step in preparing for the SAT and qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship Program. This test also supports students as they explore college and career paths, providing valuable insights into academic strengths and areas for growth. For information on future offerings, please reach out to our Counseling Center or your student’s specific counselor.
To wrap up the week, Friday, October 31, brings our annual Trunk or Treat from 4:30 to 6:30 PM in the staff parking lot, hosted by Student Council. This year’s theme is Cartoon Craze/Kid Friendly, so bring your best costumes and enjoy an evening filled with games, treats, and community spirit.
Thank you for your partnership and commitment to Mitchell High School, where We Increase Numbers by believing in our Students-WINS!
-George Smith, Principal
PURPOSE AND INTENTION: 5Essentials Parent Survey
PLEASE COMPLETE!!! SURVEY OPEN FROM OCTOBER 15 - NOVEMBER 20
About the 5Essentials System
The 5Essentials framework defines five key supports linked to student success:
• Effective Leaders
• Collaborative Teachers
• Ambitious Instruction
• Supportive Environment
• Involved Families
Schools strong in these essentials show higher student growth, attendance, and engagement.
Why the Parent Survey Matters
The 5Essentials Parent Survey gives families a voice in shaping stronger schools. Your feedback helps identify what’s working well and where schools can grow—supporting better teaching, leadership, and family partnerships.
Schools use the results to guide improvement plans, strengthen communication, and build more supportive learning environments for every student.
Research Impact
Schools strong on at least three of the five essentials are up to ten times more likely to improve student learning. Even small gains in these areas predict better outcomes over time.

¿QUÉ ES EL S.A.C.?
S: Escuela (School), A: Responsabilidad (Accountability), C: Comité (Committee).
