The National Zones just got a major refresh—and there’s so much for your student to explore this April!

🏰 The Original K12 Zone is Back!
We’ve returned to the original K12 Zone layout (goodbye, Castle World 👋), and students are loving it! Keep an eye out—new themed zones may appear in the future!

🎮 New Gaming Area for Students
Each National Zone now includes a Gaming Area, where students can chat in private rooms (up to 10 people) while playing Minecraft or Roblox. It’s a great way for them to connect with friends in a fun, safe environment.

❓ Daily Game Surprises in April!
Each day this month, the mystery question box in the National Zone will transform into a new mini-game! Encourage your student to hop in daily and see what’s waiting.

🧱 The Minecraft Build Challenge is Live!
Students can now submit original builds for a chance to have their creation added to the National K12 Zone!
🗓️ Challenge runs April 1–25
🎯 Open to all students using Minecraft Education
📍 Submissions accepted directly in the K12 Zone

🌌 Did You Catch the April Fools' Day Surprise?
The National Zones got a wacky outer space makeover on April 1st—and students had a blast navigating the unexpected changes. Things are back to normal… for now! 😄

🧱 New! Minecraft Build Challenge in the K12 Zone

We’re excited to launch the very first K12 Zone Minecraft Build Challenge, and your student is invited to take part!

🧠 What is it?
Students can use Minecraft Education to build anything they think belongs in the National K12 Zones—there’s no set theme, just imagination and creativity!

📆 When:
Now through Friday, April 25th

📍 How to Join:
Your student can head into the National K12 Zone, find the Build Challenge icon, and follow the prompts to submit their creation.

🏆 Why Join?
The winning build will be added to the National K12 Zone—a fun way for your student’s work to be featured and shared with students across the country!

💬 How You Can Support:
Encourage your student to participate! Whether they’re already a Minecraft fan or just love to create, this is a great opportunity to build, explore, and shine.

🧾 A Quick Reminder for Learning Coaches:

Parental Consent Required for National K12 Zone Access (Ages 12 & Under)

If your student is 12 or under and wants to explore the National K12 Zone, parental consent is required. These zones allow students to connect and interact with peers from across the country, which classifies them as social platforms under federal COPPA guidelines.

✅ No action is needed for students accessing School Zones only, as these are school-specific and used for educational purposes.

👣 How to Complete Consent

If your student would like to join the National Zone fun, here’s how to get started:

  1. Go to consent.k12.com

  2. Log in using your Legal Guardian credentials

  3. Select your student(s) from the dropdown menu

  4. Follow the steps to complete and submit consent

🔐 Note: Only Legal Guardians can complete this process.

📌 Reminder: All students still have access to their School Zone, even without consent for the National Zone.
