2. iPads in the Hands of Our Youngest Learners 2. iPads in the Hands of Our Youngest Learners

Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students are exploring learning in exciting new ways using Apple iPads. Touch-screen devices are especially beneficial for early learners as they match the way young children naturally explore and learn through touch. Students are developing essential 21st-century skills, including multi-touch navigation, typing, problem-solving, and responsible digital use. The intuitive interface allows young learners to work independently on tasks, reinforcing classroom skills through apps such as First in Math and Lexia. These programs also provide teachers with real-time data to monitor student progress in early numeracy and literacy, helping to personalize instruction.

iPads also include helpful accessibility features for emerging readers and writers. Spoken Text allows students to hear words or passages read aloud, supporting comprehension and vocabulary development. Dictation encourages students to express their ideas verbally, fostering confidence and fluency in writing. Typing Feedback helps reinforce correct spelling and word recognition.

To keep devices in great condition, families can remind students to use two hands when carrying their iPad, store it safely in a protective case, and keep screens clean with a soft, dry cloth. Together, we can help our youngest learners use technology safely, responsibly, and joyfully in the digital world.

5. #PantherPride: Richland Gives "Sunshine" to Local Seniors 5. #PantherPride: Richland Gives "Sunshine" to Local Seniors

Our Panther Pride feature of the week shines on our incredible Richland students, who are making a meaningful impact in our community.

Through a partnership with The Giving Tree, a nonprofit dedicated to teaching children the power of service, our counselors led students in Project Impact—an initiative focused on empathy and social-emotional growth. This month, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders assembled more than 100 “Morning Munchie Bags” for local senior citizens. We could not be prouder of their kindness, compassion, and commitment to giving back.

Well Done Panthers!
