Principal's Message
Skyview parents,
After spending last week getting to know your students and establishing classroom routines, this week we pivoted to our most important task: educating your students and getting them ready for high school. This newsletter details important ways you can support us in this effort.
There are three important ways families can support this work. First, help your student attend school consistently and communicate with us whenever an absence occurs. Second, use our Weekly Learning Snapshots to stay informed about what your student is learning. Finally, monitor Campus Parent for updates about attendance and grades.
Using these tools and maintaining regular communication with school staff will place your student in the strongest possible position to improve academically each year and begin high school ready for success.
Please reach out with any questions,
Best,
Jeff

Attendance Reminders
Consistent attendance is one of the most important ways families can support student success. Please establish routines that help your student arrive at school on time and be seated in Advisory by 7:30 a.m.
We understand that illnesses and emergencies occur, and we will work with families when challenges arise. Please follow these expectations whenever your student must miss school.
Reporting an Absence
Report each absence to the Skyview attendance office at 651-702-8022.
Please provide the reason for the absence so it can be recorded correctly.
A parent or guardian may verify an absence due to illness. If illness-related absences exceed one day or become excessive, the school may require documentation from a medical provider for future absences.
Travel and Family Circumstances
Whenever possible, please schedule travel outside the school calendar. If circumstances will require your student to miss more than one day, contact the appropriate grade-level administrator in advance to request approval:
Grade 6: Brett Latterell blatterell@isd622.org
Grade 7: Odelis Garcia Anderson ogarciaanderson@isd622.org
Grade 8: Jessica Perry jperry@isd622.org
90% Attendance Goal
Our goal is for every student to attend at least 90% of the school year. Missing 17 school days over a full year places a student below this threshold. Both excused and unexcused absences represent missed instructional time.
When a student’s attendance becomes concerning, Skyview staff will contact the family so we can identify barriers and develop a plan to improve attendance.
Picture Day - Lifetouch Photo Instructions
School Picture Day is Wednesday, September 23. Lifetouch order forms will be sent home with students next week through Advisory.
Families may preorder pictures at mylifetouch.com using Picture Day ID EVTSSRMBS.
After Picture Day, families may order online by locating their student with the student’s ID number. Lifetouch will not accept late cash orders or provide a late-order envelope.
FastBridge Reading and Math Testing
Thank you for encouraging your student to focus and give their best effort on this week’s FastBridge reading assessment. Next week, all students will complete the FastBridge math assessment.
These assessments provide an important measure of students’ current performance in grade-level reading and math skills. Along with classroom work and teacher observations, the results help us evaluate the effectiveness of our instruction and determine how to challenge and support every student.
At Skyview, we take these assessments seriously and ask every student to do the same. Please encourage your student to take their time, work carefully, and try their hardest on next week’s math assessment.
Skyview Weekly Snapshot
Each week, Skyview’s content-area teams update the Weekly Learning Snapshots with information about what students are learning in class. The link will always be available at the top of this newsletter.
The Snapshot should be your first stop when you want to talk with your student about their schoolwork. Select your student’s grade level and then click or tap any course to review current learning topics, assignments, assessments, projects, and suggested questions to ask at home.
