Dear Students and Families,

“Spring is HERE”

After a truly unique winter, it finally feels like spring is here! We hope you and your family had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break. As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we have a few important updates and reminders to share.

🌨️ Updated School Calendar

Due to additional snow days, our school calendar has changed slightly since the last newsletter. Please note the following adjustments:

  • The last day of school is now Thursday, June 5.
  • Summer break for students will begin on Friday, June 6.
  • Some early-out days may now be full school days—please review the updated calendar closely.
  • Senior schedules will remain unchanged, even with the extended school year (see details below).

We understand this extension pushes us later than usual, but we’re encouraging everyone — students, teachers, and families — to “Finish Strong!” Your support makes a difference during this important time of year.

Spring Testing Season

As we return from Spring Break, we enter an important testing cycle at North High School:

ISASP Testing (Grades 9, 10, 11)

Students in grades 9–11 will participate in the Iowa Statewide Assessments of Student Progress (ISASP). These assessments measure academic growth in:

  • Reading Comprehension / Language Use and Writing Composition
  • Mathematics
  • Science (10th grade only)

These results help guide our instruction and ensure students are on track for success both during and after high school. Our goal is 100% participation. We’ll reach out to students who miss a test to ensure make-up testing is completed.

AP Testing (Begins in May)

Advanced Placement (AP) tests begin in May and provide an opportunity for students to earn college credit and advanced placement while still in high school. These exams validate students' academic achievement and can open doors for scholarships and college opportunities.

🎯 Why Testing Matters

ISASP and AP impact eligibility for WITCC college courses, scholarship opportunities, and college acceptance. We kindly ask that students are well-rested, on time, and give their best effort on each exam day.

📲 Stay Connected!

There’s a lot happening over the next two months — concerts, testing, celebrations, and more. The best way to stay in the loop is to follow us on our official social media pages for real-time updates and reminders.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We are so proud of our students and the hard work they’ve put in this year. Let’s finish strong — together!

Immunizations

Parents and guardians, Iowa law requires students to have certain immunizations, vision screenings, and dental screenings before starting school in the fall.

Your student will not be able to attend school in the fall without proof of the required immunizations and screenings

Please make sure your #SCCSD student is up to date before the first day of school. You can find the complete list of necessary immunizations and screenings on our website, including requirements for preschool students: https://bit.ly/vision-dental-immunization-req.

Coca-Cola Fundraiser Coca-Cola Fundraiser

Dear North High Team,

We’re excited to share a simple way you can support our incredible students and the North High community — and it involves something many of us enjoy anyway: Coca-Cola products!

For the past two years, our North Booster Club has worked behind the scenes to make a huge dream a reality — the first-class Softball/Baseball/Golf Facility that now serves our student-athletes year-round. Much of that was made possible by private fundraising efforts, including last year’s spring Coke sale that brought in over $3,000!

This year, we’re aiming even higher — and we need your help.

Whether you're planning a graduation party, love to grill out in the summer, or just want to stock up your fridge, this is a great time to load up on Coca-Cola products while supporting all North High activities.
