Hello Cleveland Families!

I hope you and your student had a great week!

Thanks to the many of you who joined our first Cleveland PTSA meeting of the year on Tuesday! We had a remarkable turn out, and it was deeply encouraging to see so many families come together in support of our students and staff. Thank you for being part of the community, for the thoughtful questions you asked me, and for your commitment to our collective thriving.

This week, we also learned that CHS Alumni from Cleveland’s Class of 1975 and Class of 1985 recently held fundraisers and raised nearly $30,000 combined for our school! This generous support was a reminder that we have a vast community of people who love our students and will work for their success. Thank you to our Alumni Association for your ongoing partnership and support.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to host our Student Club Fair this Wednesday during Advisory. Clubs are a vital part of the student experience at Cleveland — they offer opportunities to meet new friends, explore shared interests, develop leadership skills, and simply have fun. We are committed to building a school culture where every student feels a sense of belonging, and clubs play a key role in that work.

Please encourage your student to explore the fair and sign up for a club (or two!) that sparks their interest. We can’t wait to see the energy and excitement this brings to our campus.

We hope you have a restful and restorative weekend.

We are hiring for an Assistant Principal!

This past week, we opened up a new Assistant Principal position at Cleveland. The job is now posted. We thank Ms. Roesener for her leadership of the Cleveland community for the past several years and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

We have tentatively planned a hiring process on October 1st and it is essential that we have families involved in the hiring process. If you might be interested in being part of an interview panel, please reach out to me directly at jklam@seattleschools.org.

Students job opportunity at Cleveland!

Is your student interested in earning some extra money at school? If so, we can hire students to support our kitchen staff as servers during lunch. This is a great way for students to gain valuable work experience and earn money in the middle of the school day. If your student is interested, have them stop by the main office to add their name to our interest list, and we will reach back out with next steps.

Purchase an ASB sticker!

Purchase an ASB activity card! The ASB sticker will allow students to have a discounted price for dances, school events, and participate in sports year round.

The money from this fee goes directly to our general Associated Student Body fund, which allows us to host student events throughout the year, provide transportation for student-athletes to games, and supports our efforts to make school a fun and welcoming place where students are excited to be.

  • $25 to purchase an ASB sticker
  • ASB sticker required for all athletes. This fee covers athletics for the whole school year (this fee is waived for students who qualify for free/ reduced lunch.)

Nominate your student to join the 25-26 Principal's Advisory Council

We believe in centering student voice. We are looking for students to join the Principal's Advisory Council. The advisory council will meet with me once a month for students to discuss the school issues and concerns that matter most to them. If you know of students you'd like to nominate for the Principal's Advisory Council, nominate your student to join the 25-26 Principal's Advisory Council
