Greetings Eagles!

As we enter the fifth week of the school year, I'm delighted to see the continued growth and engagement of our students and families. Thank you for your ongoing support and participation in our school community. Last week, our admin team had the pleasure of partnering with twenty-nine (29) staff members to host several family and community engagement events, including Back to School Night, the Parent Advisory Council, and the Bilingual Advisory Committee meeting. (THANK YOU!!!) These events provided valuable opportunities for us to connect and collaborate with various stakeholders from our school community.

I'm excited to announce that we're seeking volunteers to help make our upcoming Open House event successful. If you're interested in volunteering, please sign up here. Your contributions will be invaluable in providing prospective students and families with a positive and informative experience.

SPREAD THE WORD: Open House Flyer

We cordially invite prospective students and families to our Open House on September 28. This event offers a wonderful chance to learn more about our school's academic programs, extracurricular activities, and student life. Prospective students and families will have the opportunity to tour our campus, meet our faculty and staff, and ask any questions they may have. Please help spread the word by sharing our flyer with your family members and friends, as well as on your social media platforms.

Sincerely,

Principal Banks

Student Spotlight

Last Wednesday night, Lindblom choir students (Yazmere, Mikaela, Ian, and Caleb) performed Baroque music on a boat on the Chicago River to an audience on the Riverwalk. They joined other CPS high school choirs, along with a professional chorus and orchestra through the choral program’s partnership with @MusicoftheBaroque. It was an unforgettable, enriching musical experience for our students.

Writing Center

The Writing Center is open for the year! Encourage your student to visit the Writing Center during their lunch period on non-colloquium days to get help in any subject area (world languages, math, science, etc, not just writing). Junior and Senior tutors are available to work with them. Students can scan one of our posters in the lunchroom and fill out the form as their pass. Ms. Shinaul also has physical passes available.

Drop Off/Pick Up

Students can be dropped off or picked up on Wolcott and Winchester. Double Parking is prohibited! Please be considerate of the handicap ramps on Winchester and DO NOT park in front of the ramp. There is Safe Passage surrounding the perimeter of Lindblom and we'd like to enforce a "Kiss and Go" to avoid traffic back-ups; therefore, consider use of alternate blocks (like Damen, 61st Street, etc) for ease of traffic.

Students may enter the building through Door 3 (on Wolcott) or Door 9 (on Winchester). Please be mindful that these are the only doors that students should exit during/after dismissal.

Math Interventionist

Share what motivates you to serve as an interventionist
Over the years at Lindblom I’ve had students who’ve struggled in my math class because they’ve needed additional support and resources. The fact that I wasn’t able to provide these additional supports during a typical class period always frustrated me, especially when I saw these students struggle in my class. When the opportunity to serve as an interventionist opened up, I was excited to take on the challenge of helping these specific students get the additional support they need to be more successful at Lindblom.

How do you believe your role will positively impact our school community?
I believe in this role I can help students feel more confident as mathematicians and help those students who have typically struggled in a math classroom find more success. I also believe I can help teachers feel more successful as they have the support they need when it comes to working with the students who need the most resources in their classrooms.

Math Interventionist

Share what motivates you to serve as an interventionist

I was excited to take on this role to expand the ways I can positively contribute to students' experience in math classes at Lindblom by giving them one-on-one attention and personalized feedback so that they are more self-confident in current and future math classes.

How do you believe your role will positively impact our school community?

I believe in this role I can help students feel more confident as mathematicians and help those students who have typically struggled in a math classroom find more success. I also believe I can help teachers feel more successful as they have the support they need in building a more equitable and differentiated classroom.

English Interventionist

I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve our community as an ELA interventionist. Critical reading and coherent writing are vital skills all students need to ensure high levels of success in any field. As an interventionist, I hope to push our students to develop a deeper understanding of how to analyze deeply and communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences.
