Certified #PurpleReign Award: Cassie Dolinar
This month, we recognized certified #PurpleReign award winner Cassie Dolinar, Piper High School Physical Education teacher and Cross Country Coach.
Cassie was nominated by a student who shared, “She is always looking out for her students and athletes, both athletically and academically. She encourages us to push ourselves to be our best.”
Mrs. Dolinar’s dedication extends far beyond the gym and the track. She fosters a positive and supportive environment where students are motivated to grow, achieve, and take pride in their accomplishments. Her commitment to excellence, both in the classroom and through athletics, exemplifies the spirit of #PurpleReign.
Congratulations to Mrs. Cassie Dolinar, our November Certified #PurpleReign Award recipient who was joined by her principal, Dr. Justin Bogart.
Classified #PurpleReign Award: Patrick Gosserand
This month's classified #PurpleReign winner is Patrick Gosserand, ISS Monitor at Piper Middle School.Patrick was nominated by one of his administrators, who shared these words about the incredible difference he makes every day:
“Mr. Gosserand connects with students on so many levels. He works with students who are working through the consequences of their actions in In-School Suspension, helping them prepare to rejoin the classroom. He helps them reflect and plan for success.
Patrick wears so many hats and is quick and flexible to help in every way. He’s often seen during the car line or subbing in the building so general education teachers can easily attend IEPs. He’s in the lunchrooms making connections with students and helping be proactive with behaviors.”
Patrick’s dedication, compassion, and willingness to jump in wherever needed truly represent the spirit of Piper and what #PurpleReign is all about. Whether he’s guiding students toward better choices, lending a helping hand to staff, or building relationships across the school, Patrick’s positive impact is felt every single day.
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Patrick Gosserand joined by his principal Mr. Tim Leffert, as our November Classified #PurpleReign Award winner!
Piper High School Girls Golf State Qualifiers
For the first time in a long time, Piper Girls Golf sent multiple girls to the state tournament. Georgia Lightfoot and Hadley Heim both qualified by placing first and second out of the individuals that qualified at the regional tournament. At the state tournament, the girls did a fantastic job, as they both made the cut of 54, and qualified for day 2! This is a major accomplishment, as we have not had a day 2 qualifier for quite some time.
Both of these girls are seniors, and they have worked extremely hard to get to this point. Georgia and Hadley both made it to state for the first time this year, and they represented Piper extremely well. I could not be more grateful to have had the opportunity to watch them grow and fall in love with the game of golf! Congratulations to Georgia, Hadley, Head Coach Jordan Shaner and Assistant Coach Aaron Warneke.
Piper High School Girls Tennis State Qualifiers
For the third year in a row, Piper Girls Tennis coached by Head Coach Bryan Shelley and Assistant Coach Matt Storrer was represented at the State Tennis Tournament, held at historic Kossover Park in Topeka, Kansas.
The doubles team of Allison Ochs and Aubrey Eidson earned UKC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors on their way to qualifying for state for the second straight year as a doubles team. Together, they have made school history—becoming Piper’s all-time winningest doubles team with 31 career victories.
Aubrey, now a two-time state qualifier, will return next season for her senior year, while Allison, a graduating senior, leaves behind an incredible legacy. Allison is the only three-time state qualifier in program history and the winningest Piper Girls Tennis player all-time, finishing her career with 42 total match victories.
Also representing Piper at state for the second consecutive season was Ann McPherson, who competed in singles play. Ann earned UKC All-Conference Second Team honors and capped off her season with 22 wins. She also became just the second player in school history to win two matches at the state tournament.
Piper High School Cross Country State Qualifiers
For the first time in school history, Piper’s Girls Cross Country team qualified for the 5A state meet by placing second at their Regional Meet. The state meet was held at KU’s Rim Rock Course, notorious for being one of the top courses in the nation as well as one of the most difficult courses a high school athlete can run. Members of the state squad included Elizabeth Arenas, Breckyn Shaw, Addie Stelle, Marisol Arenas, Jaslyn Wiseman, Alexis Bayless, Alice Allen, and Elle Axman.
On the boys’ side, while the team narrowly missed qualifying, Quinn Hanson advanced to the state meet as an individual. His incredible finish entered him into the Piper record books with the fastest State meet time in school history.
Other notable season highlights: Elizabeth Arenas was named UKC Runner of the Year after winning both the UKC and Regional Meets, and finishing 10th at the state meet to earn Kansas All-State honors. Elizabeth Arenas, Quinn Hanson, and Breckyn Shaw earned 1st Team UKC honors. Alexis Bayless and Marisol Arenas both earned 2nd team UKC Honors. Oliver Bass, Luke Johnson, and Jaslyn Wiseman all earned Honorable Mention UKC honors. The team is coaches by Head Coach Cassie Dolinar and Assistant Coaches Avery Kaminski and Bob Lockwood.
