During this time of year, we often find that 5th graders experience "spring fever." Please know that we recognize and appreciate their expression of excitement about this special time in their lives. With that said, we are hoping to enlist your support to ensure that they continue to make good choices about their behavior in the classroom, during lunch/recess, and on the bus as well as relationships with peers and staff. I have every confidence in this group of amazing students to continue to be responsible and respectful, but I have learned that friendly reminders along the way from us at school in collaboration with you at home sends a clear and strong message of the expectations. The 5th Grade Team and administration thanks you in advance for your support.

As part of our health curriculum, the fifth grade will study human growth and development this spring. We will follow The Great Body Shop units titled, “Those Crazy Mixed-Up Emotions” and “Growing Up.”

This unit teaches the basic facts about growing up, including puberty, the role of hormones, biological differences between boys and girls, and human reproduction.

The unit emphasizes the responsibilities of maturing adolescents, goal setting and positive decision making. Our program also encourages your child to turn to you for further information on these topics. It is important that you let your child know you are willing to discuss this material.

• A 'Family Ticket' will be sent home with students a week prior to Moving Up.
• Parking is in the lot across the street or on Huntville and neighboring streets.
• Handicapped parking ONLY is available in the designated spots in the circle.
• Please call the office by June 20 if special arrangements are needed for persons who need access to an elevator.
• Doors will open at 9:30am. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
