Principal's Message Principal's Message

As we enter the season of Lent in preparation to celebrate the events of Holy Week and Easter, we often hear the message of repentance. We teach the children that being sorry for doing the wrong thing or hurting someone also means we promise to try really hard not to do it again.

If we keep doing the same thing over and over again nothing has or will change. Perhaps during these 40 days of the Lenten season we should try to change one thing for the better.

Mobile Phones and Smart Watches Mobile Phones and Smart Watches

Phones and smart watches are a wonderful convenience, especially for parents as they are able to keep in contact with their children when they are away from home.

St Anthony’s provides students with the electronic devices necessary to access the teaching and learning that is happening in our classrooms. We therefore require that all children hand in their phones and smart watches at the start of the day and collect them from the office at the end of the day. This avoids any possible distractions from the learning happening at school.

If your child needs a watch when at school, please provide them with an analogue/digital watch without connectivity and save the smart watch for those times when you might need to be in contact with your child outside of school hours.

Should circumstances arise and you need to contact your child during the day, please ring the office and a message will be passed to them.

Covid Covid

We sent an alert earlier this week saying we have had some cases of COVID amongst staff and students. Please keep your child home if they are unwell and test for COVID – it may not be COVID but we want to reduce any chance of infections being transmitted to other children and staff.

In anticipation, I thank you for your consideration of others and your cooperation.

Carpark Carpark

Thank you everyone for the smooth start to afternoon pick-up. We have not had any complaints about the Dundebar Road roundabout being blocked and, apart from some children not hearing their name when called, the church Kiss and Drive is moving really smoothly.

Thank you also to the parents who use the Early Years Kiss and Drive. After a couple of hiccups in the first day or two, this car park is also moving very smoothly.

I would like to remind Kindy and Pre-Primary parents who do manage to find a car park in the street that they need to enter and exit the playground through the single gate closest to the Kindy classrooms.

Please do not walk through the Kiss and Drive gates as this creates a safety issue with cars moving in and out of the car park.

God Bless

Therese Bandy

Principal

If you have not received a fee statement please either come see me in the office or email me at: accounts-stanthonyswanneroo@cewa.edu.au

If you are experiencing financial difficulties please make an appointment with the office to come and talk to Mrs Therese Bandy as soon as possible.

Health Care Cards Health Care Cards

If you have a current family health care card and the discount has NOT appeared on your fee statement please come and present this to the office ASAP and fill in the health care card form so that it can be applied for this year's fees regardless of if you had presented the card in previous years.

Sibling Discount Sibling Discount

Mater Dei College has joined forces with St Anthony’s School to provide a sibling discount for families who have children that attend both Mater Dei College and St Anthony’s School for Pre-Primary to Year 6. Unfortunately Kindergarten children are not included in this scheme for this year.

Please see attached letter from Mater Dei College explaining the scheme and the form that needs to be filled out and returned back to St Anthony’s School office by Friday 23rd February at the latest. If you are unsure if you have handed this in or not please contact the office and we will check for you. After the due date, I will then send these all off to Mater Dei to approve. Once they have been approved I can apply the sibling discount to your St Anthony’s School fee account. This will more than likely occur in Term 2, but will depend on Mater Dei's approval. Please pay your school fees as normal and once the fees are adjusted I will send out a new fee statement.

Many thanks

Project Compassion Fundraiser
zoom_out_map

This week, we gathered to mark the solemn occasion of Ash Wednesday. As we embark on a journey of reflection and compassion, it is a good time to remember the importance of humility and forgiveness. As we begin this Lenten season, let us open our hearts to acts of kindness and generosity.

Throughout this lenten season, the Mini Vinnies team are thrilled to announce that our school will be participating in Project Compassion once again. Throughout this season, we'll be fundraising to support those in need.

As part of our fundraising campaign, we will be serving icy poles every Tuesday for just 50 cents! We will serve these at the canteen.

Also, there will be a class competition, where the class that donates the most will earn a well-deserved free dress day.
