Greetings Pirate Families,

As we begin Week 8, we’re approaching the end of the first quarter, a great time to reflect and refocus. Please encourage your student to check Infinite Campus, connect with teachers, and complete any outstanding assignments.

Let’s continue to uphold our core values of Pride, Integrity, Relationships, Accountability, Teaching & Learning, and Empowerment as we finish the quarter strong!

Pre-ACT Testing for 10th Graders – Tuesday, October 14

All 10th-grade students will take the Pre-ACT on Tuesday, October 14. This important assessment helps students prepare for college readiness benchmarks.

Panorama Student Survey

The Panorama Survey is a great opportunity for students to share their voices about their Riverside experience. Please encourage your student to complete the survey using their student ID number as the access code. The survey window closes October 17. Students—your voice matters! Take a few minutes to share your thoughts and help us improve our school climate and culture.

Join RHS Student Services for our annual Senior Parent Night on
Monday, October 13 at 6:00 PM in the Media Center. Parents, come out and get important information to help your students successfully navigate their senior year!

Topics will include:

• Graduation Requirements
• Post-Secondary Options
• Durham Tech offerings
• FAFSA and Financial Aid
• Career & College Readiness
• Community Resources and more

Come learn how to support your senior’s success and prepare for life after Riverside!

There will be a Sophomore / Junior Parent Information Night on Monday, November 17 at 6:00 PM in the Media Center. Come on out to learn more about high school graduation requirements, GPA, career development plans and other important topics to help support your sophomore or junior successfully navigate high school.

It’s Spirit Week, Pirates! Let’s show our school pride each day with themed dress-up days leading up to:

Homecoming Dance – Saturday Night

RHS Theatre Shines!

A huge shout-out to Ms. Taylor, Mr. Holley, and the cast and crew of Dracula for two incredible performances this weekend! The show was a testament to the creativity, skill, and dedication of our talented performing arts students. (photo)

Performing Arts Collaboration

Thank you to the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) and the cast of The Sound of Music for hosting a dance workshop with our students last week. What an inspiring opportunity to learn from professionals! (photo)

We extend heartfelt thanks to the Croasdale Gardening Club for partnering with Mr. Flippen’s, Mr. Lea’s, Ms. Owen’s, and Mr. Crutchfield’s classes to plant beautiful flower beds near the outdoor classroom. Riverside pride is growing—literally! (photo)

Congratulations to the Women's Tennis Team who will host Ashley High School on Monday 10/13, this is the first time since the early 2000's that our team will host post-season play. Wish them luck!!

To continue ensuring health assessment and immunization compliance, it is important that we follow state policy and requirements. Our school nurse is working closely with our Data Manager to confirm that all students are up to date with immunizations and health assessments.

The second round of compliance checks has been completed, and 30-Day Letters will be sent home for students who are not yet in compliance. Please note, state law allows only 30 days before non-compliant students are subject to school exclusion, which will result in absences and suspension from school until requirements are met.

We appreciate your cooperation in this important effort to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for all students. If you have questions, please contact our school nurse or Data Manager for assistance.
