Join Us in Welcoming Our Newest Parkway Alumni Educators
Watch the video to hear what they’re most excited about and learn about their “ParkWHY”—the people, experiences, and traditions that make Parkway so special to them. There’s something especially meaningful about seeing a Parkway student return to the classroom, this time as an educator. We’re proud to see Parkway alumni giving back, inspiring students, and helping shape the next generation of Parkway alumni.
Here’s to coming home, giving back, and paying it forward! Welcome to the Parkway family, educators!
Parkway Schools Places Prop P on November Ballot
Based on community feedback and the priorities they identified, the Parkway Board of Education voted unanimously to place a 46-cent operating tax levy on the November 3 ballot.
For the past two years, Parkway’s operating costs have been rising faster than its revenue. Contributing factors include increased costs for employee health care, transportation, curriculum, utilities, and other essential services, as well as slower growth in state and local funding.
The district has reduced its budget by $15.4 million during the past two years while seeking to minimize the impact on classrooms and student experiences. Financial projections show a $75 million funding shortfall over the next ten years. Without additional revenue, future cuts would increasingly affect staffing, programs, and opportunities for students.
The measure will ask Parkway voters whether to provide additional operating revenue to maintain staffing, academic programs, classroom resources, school safety, student activities, and long-term financial stability.

What's Happening At School?
First Day of School
A new school year means new beginnings, new memories, and so many opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference. We’re celebrating every student, educator, staff member, and family who makes the Parkway community so special. Here’s to a year filled with big dreams, meaningful moments, lifelong friendships, and plenty of reasons to be proud to be Parkway! Wishing our entire Parkway family a fantastic first day—and an incredible school year ahead!
A Special Summer Adventure
Peter Larson went against the current this summer. While some teachers recharge for the next school year, Larson launched his kayak in Montana on June 1 and paddled 2,341 miles down the Missouri River to St. Louis.
The Central Middle industrial technology teacher completed the trek in a record 32 days, officially becoming the fastest (not just solo) to kayak the Missouri River. Congratulations to Peter on this incredible feat!
Community Partnerships Make Meaningful Impact
Special thanks to the local Elks Lodge #9 for their generous $4,000 donation of school supplies to Northeast Middle for the 2026-27 school year! We’re so grateful to community partners who invest in our students, giving them the tools to learn and grow on day one.
