Today, Mrs. Patterson's 4th-grade class from Friendsville Elementary made a special visit to Mayor Schlosnagle and the Town Hall.

While they toured the Town Hall, Mayor Schlosnagle shared the world of municipal responsibility with the youth. From learning the ins and outs of town council meetings to uncovering fascinating tidbits about the Town of Friendsville’s history, these young minds had an educational treat.

The best part of the visit was that the 4th graders were not just passive learners - they're active participants! They took part in a mock Mayor & Town Council meeting, where they'll share their insights and even offer suggestions for making our town an even better place to live.

Let's cheer on these future leaders as they start their exciting journey of making a difference in our community!

April 22 is a special day called Earth Day! It's like a birthday for our planet! We celebrate Earth Day to show how much we love and care for our home, the Earth. On this day, people all around the world do fun things to help the Earth, like planting trees, picking up trash, and learning about animals and plants. Earth Day is super important because it reminds us to be kind to our planet and to take care of it, so that animals, plants, and people can all live happily together. Let's celebrate Earth Day and show our planet some love!

We're thrilled to announce that the 5th Grade class from Friendsville Elementary School will be joining forces with the Friendsville Tree Committee for a special event! On Monday, April 29th, starting at 1:15 p.m. beside the town hall building, the students will be planting two beautiful Yoshino cherry trees. This exciting initiative, in celebration of Arbor Day, aims to enhance the town's greenery and foster environmental stewardship among the youth. Adding to the excitement, Katherine Phillips, MD DNR Western Region Urban & Community Forestry coordinator, will be present to assist with the planting and engage the students in insightful discussions about the importance of trees in our ecosystem. It's bound to be an educational and memorable experience for all involved!

“Open to All Residents”

The Week of April 29 – May 4, 2024

We are proud that our community is known as “the friendliest little town in Maryland”, and now we the residents and officials in our town join together to make it the cleanest little town in Maryland as well!

Let’s Demonstrate Our Civic Pride!

Cut weeds, mow lawns, and rake leaves around your property. Clean up those vacant lots too! Dispose of worn-out furniture, broken appliances, and useless old items.

(Sorry! We will not be able to accept old tires or construction debris…)

Our entire town can and should be made as clean and orderly as its cleanest home…then we will have a safer, happier, healthier town. To have a town clean and beautiful should be the ambition of every one of its citizens.

Pick up of large items will be on

We ask of our town residents’….to separate furniture, appliances and scrap metal for Saturday’s pick-up. This will help our trash collector in their efforts to remove it quickly. (We will pick up no more than ten (10) bags of garbage per household.)

Our Community Park is esteemed within the local community, with dedicated efforts to maintain its pristine condition. It serves as an excellent setting for hosting picnics of varying sizes, providing a relaxing environment for an hour, two hours, or an entire day.

Explore this superb outdoor rental venue for a range of events, including picnics, weddings, reunions, family gatherings, as well as club and organization events.

Access the Park Fact Sheet for rental rates and a map.
