Hauser Arrival & Dismissal Hauser Arrival & Dismissal

Hauser opens the doors for students at 8:00 AM. Students who arrive prior to that time are not allowed in the building unless they have a before-school commitment or an appointment with a teacher. Please plan accordingly, particularly on inclement weather days.

Similarly, if students do not have after school clubs/sports/activities, they should gather their belongings and exit the building by 3:35.

Hauser Junior High Class of 2027! Hauser Junior High Class of 2027!

While the school year is just getting started, there are many events throughout the year for our 8th grade students. To make sure families are in the know, we have a separate newsletter for the Class of 2027. This newsletter will be updated throughout the school year with all the information families needs to know!

September is Attendance Awareness Month September is Attendance Awareness Month

At Hauser, we prioritize belonging and participation, academic achievement, and maximizing the middle school experience. Something that is essential or students to have a successful experience at Hauser is students displaying positive attendance behaviors. It's important for every student to be present each day, engaging in their classes, activities, and social development to ultimately create a positive school culture.

The state of Illinois defines consistent attendance as a student attending 90% or more of the school year. This is an indicator that appears on our school report card and every student and family has the opportunity to contribute to this metric.

September is Attendance Awareness Month and we know that partnership with parents/guardians is critical to students demonstrating positive attendance behaviors. As you think about things you can do to support your student, consider the following:

  • Establish routines and structures.
  • Encourage your student to establish a consistent sleep schedule.
  • Encourage your student to establish a morning routine that includes ample time to get ready for school, including breakfast.
  • Encourage your student to leave plenty of time in the morning for traveling to school so that they can be on time.
  • Make it clear that attendance at school is non-negotiable.
  • Hold firm boundaries around attendance, only allowing your student to stay home if they are truly sick.
  • If your student contacts you from school saying they are not feeling well and asking to get picked up, direct your student to the nurse's office.
  • Plan ahead as much as possible including scheduling doctor visits and vacations outside of school hours and in accordance with the school calendar.
  • Monitor your student’s attendance and address any unexpected absences right away. Contact the Hauser office or grade level social worker with any concerns about your student’s attendance.
  • We will be communicating with you if we have concerns about your student’s attendance.

  • Student cell phones and smart watches must be kept in lockers and turned off during the school day.
  • Students should not use their cell phone to call/text to be picked up due to illness. Students who are not feeling well should visit the school nurse who will then contact parents as needed.
  • Once students enter the building, they should not use their cell phone or smart watch.
