Week of Respect Recap
We had a wonderful Week of Respect filled with meaningful activities and thoughtful conversations.
Each day focused on a different theme, helping students understand and celebrate the many ways we can show respect to ourselves and others. From friendly greetings on “Start with Hello Monday” to celebrating our differences on “Don’t Yuck My Yum Wednesday,” every day brought valuable lessons. Students also enjoyed respectful read-alouds, learned about an upcoming toy drive, and showed their support by wearing red to “Respect Every Difference.”
It was a great week, and we’re proud of our students for embracing the message of respect throughout our school community!
HALLOWEEN AT KRS
Important Halloween Information
Please review this letter for detailed Halloween celebration guidelines, including important information about allergies.
Halloween Parade - October 31, 2025 1:15 PM
Students will be able to wear their costumes to school or change at school on Friday, October 31, 2025. Costumes should follow our past guidelines:
● Students may wear a costume of their choosing for the parade and class party.
● Toy weapons of any kind are not allowed.
● Avoid excessively scary costumes as they might frighten our younger students. (No fake blood, scary masks, or toy weapons)
● Please check your child’s costume for safety. Make sure it is not too long and does not create a tripping hazard.
● Finally, we would also prefer that children not wear costume masks that block vision.
Halloween Parade Route
Halloween Parade Guidelines:
- This year, please note that there will be no sidewalk along the parade route. The parade will begin at the back of the school and will travel the route twice.
- Families and spectators are welcome to stand along the route at any point, but we ask that you leave plenty of space for the Madison High School Band, which will lead the parade, as well as the students and staff following behind.
- After the parade, students will line up by class for pictures, and you are invited to take photos at that time.
We are looking forward to a fun and festive parade!

KRS Safety Week – Week of October 20, 2025
We’re excited to celebrate Safety Week at KRS! This year, activities will begin on Tuesday, October 21, since schools are closed on Monday. Throughout the week, students will take part in a variety of engaging and educational activities focused on safety, including:
-
Halloween Safety presentations for all grade levels.
-
A special visit from the Madison Fire Department with their fire truck for students in grades K–2.
-
Daily safety announcements shared by students during morning announcements.
-
A Safety Pledge, where each student will add a link to create one large “School Safety Chain” to be proudly displayed in the main hallway.
It’s sure to be a fun and meaningful week of learning about how to stay safe at school and in our community!
Construction Update
Exciting construction progress is still happening at KRS! Stone and foundational work are being placed as the groundwork for our new multi-purpose room takes shape. Underground pipes continue to be installed, and last week, an overhead safety structure was added to ensure safe passage for everyone walking to the main office. Each step of this project brings us closer to a larger, welcoming multi-purpose space that our students, staff, and families will enjoy for years to come.
Coming Soon! - Elementary Book Study
Last school year, our community came together for a meaningful book study featuring The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. It was a great opportunity to learn, reflect, and grow together.
This year, we are excited to announce an elementary book study that will include all three elementary schools! We look forward to continuing this tradition of thoughtful discussion and collaboration.
Stay tuned for the book title and more details in upcoming newsletters.
