A Note From the Principal

March has arrived! Somehow February slipped passed me and I now find us less than two weeks away from spring break and our last trimester is upon us! I remember thinking as a kid that time moved so slowly. Now, as an adult, I realize how very wrong I was! However, I think the fact that time slips by so quickly serves as a reminder to us just how important each minute of each day really is! We need to make the most of it!

We will DEFINITELY be making the most of these last days before break and even more so til the end of the year! Be sure to mark your calendars for all the events ahead including a FIELD TRIP to Dan and Debbie's for our 4th & 5th graders! YES, WE ARE GOING OFF CAMPUS thanks to a grant that the one and only Becky West! Thanks, Becky!! In addition to this field trip opportunity, we'll have our ISASP test

February may be cold and often snowy but we do have a few fun things to look forward to. Check it out!

Feb. 28 - Mar. 4: Read Across America Week! (ALREADY IN PROGRESS)

We'll celebrate Read Across America Week with a little Dr. Seuss fun! Take a peek at our dress up days and encourage your child to join in! All of our days are tied to the fun of one of our favorite authors....Dr. Seuss of course!!

Wednesday, Mar. 2: Wacky Wednesday: Dress Wacky!
Thursday, Mar. 3: Fox in Socks: Wear those Crazy Socks!
Friday, Mar. 4: The Sleep Book: Pajama Day!

Book Fair!

The Book Fair is open! Students had a chance to browse and shop earlier this week. It will also be open during conferences on Thursday, Mar. 3 for parents to come shop as well! Thank you to our PTO for bring such great books to our students!!

Dan & Debbie's Field Trip

4th and 5th Grade students will have the opportunity to tour Dan & Debbie's Creamery NEXT WEEK! Here's the plan:

Mar. 8: 5th Grade

9:30 am: 5th Grade Orange & Black Specials Groups
12:30 pm: 5th Grade White & Gray Specials Groups

Mar. 9: 4th Grade

9:30 am: 4A & 4B
12:30 pm: 4C & 4D

ISASP Testing:

The District has identified Mar. 28 - Apr. 15 as our ISASP testing dates. Students will complete these tests online. This is the first time Solon has completed these tests online. Teachers have been preparing for these tests by taking a few short practice tests to help students familiarize themselves with the testing platform and navigation features. Please talk to your child about the importance of a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast! It's the little things that make a big difference!
