9.14.2025 Family Newsletter
Week 1 & 2
Parent/Family Newsletter, 9.14.25
This week may have been a little bananas, but even with the monkeying around we did, it was an AMAZING week here at Queens Creek! Students have gotten into the groove, showing that they know the procedures and expectations, which is allowing learning to take place each and every day.
Wednesday is an EARLY RELEASE DAY! We will begin releasing students at 12:15. If students have a change in transportation, please update SDM so teachers will be aware.
Hat Day! As a small fundraiser, we will be offering ERDPs as hat days for students and staff. Everyone will be able to wear a hat to school this Wednesday for $1. If students would like to participate, they will need to bring a dollar in with them on Wednesday.
GLOW NIGHT!! We are beyond exited to have you join us for our Glow Night focusing on Literacy this Wednesday! Maps will be provided when you arrive. Please plan to attend only your child's grade level activities. The book fair will also be open for shopping.
Impact Aid cards will be coming home on Monday, September 22nd. It is very important that we receive these cards filled out correctly and by the next day. There is more information below regarding the importance of these cards. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school's contact person, Mrs. Larson.
Please note the changes to our Cell Phone and Smart Watch Policy as a result of the recent NC legislation: On July 1, 2025, NC Governor Stein signed into law the prohibition of the use of cell phones and other such electronic devices in the public school settings. If parents choose to send a cell phone with their student, the phone must remain turned off and in the student's bookbag throughout the entirety of the day. If the cell phone is seen, heard, or used during the day, it will be confiscated by school staff and a parent will be contact to pick up the phone. Repeated violation of the cell phone policy may result in disciplinary consequences. Smart watches fall under the prohibited items in the new cell phone law referenced. These watches can be distracting when used to text during the school day. Smart watches are permitted, however may not be utilized to text or email during the school day. When cell phones are turned off and in bookbags, there should be no active connection between the cell phone and the watch. Watches that are used for texting, emailing and other communication or that create a distraction to the learning environment will be confiscated by staff and a parent contacted to pick up the watch.

Shopping for students will be this week! Families can shop Wednesday night during Glow Night. This past week, a flyer went home with your students that include a link to our bookfair homepage and a link to the eWallet. eWallets are easy for families to set up, easy for others to contribute. It lets your child shop independently and choose books they want to read. After the Fair, any unspent funds become a Scholastic eGift balance to use at a future Fair or to shop online. If there are any questions about eWallets, please reach out to Ms. Jones!
