A Message from Ms. Brown: A Message from Ms. Brown:

Dear Lamar Parents,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend! I am sure you had some pretty tired Leopards on Friday afternoon, because we packed a lot in to the first three days.

I can't thank you enough for a great first week! We are excited to begin our first full week of instruction with your kiddos. I have left a lot of the important information I included last week below, so you still have access to it. Please take time to review the information, so you are aware of all the things happening this week.

Rating:

Lamar's Accountability Rating was released this past week. I am so excited about the progress we made this year and the distinction we earned for Academic Growth. I want to keep you all informed of our progress as we journey to an A this year. I have included a snapshot of the scores we have received over the past few years, and as you can see, Lamar has been on a path to an A for awhile now. Our goal this year is to break that threshold from our score of an 89 this year to a 90 or above next year. Please help us make our goal by staying informed and involved. Parent involvement and student attendance are two huge ways you can help us reach the A. More information will be shared when we hold our public meeting in the very near future.

Doors Open at 7:15 a.m. and Our Leopards Will Walk Themselves:

Opening our doors at 7:15 a.m. has helped get our Leopards to school on time and ready to learn. Our full staff is not on duty until 7:30 a.m., so your students will need to exit the car without assistance from 7:15-7:30 a.m. Please pull all the way to the doors for drop off during the early arrival, so we an get as many cars in as possible. Also starting this week, ALL Leopards will walk themselves to class. We are excited to get into our normal routines and really get this first full week in motion.

3:10 p.m. Dismissal

We will begin our normal dismissal time of 3:10 p.m. this week. Please be patient with us as we get all of our Leopards out of the building safely. Together, we've got this!

Morning Walkers:

ALL morning walkers will proceed to the front entrance to enter the building. The door closest to kindergarten will no longer be accessible in the morning. Walkers will exit during dismissal out the kindergarten door as we have in the past. Thanks for your patience and flexibility.

School Meals and Transportation:

If you need more information about getting your student(s) set up for school meals and/or transportation, I have included some important information below. We will also have information at Meet the Teacher for you.

Thank You and We Need Your Help!

One of our goals in the next month is to update the Front Office, Star Lobby, and the Teacher's Lounge. We have more than begun to receive items for our upgrade and we are beyond grateful. Our front office has been upgraded and looks amazing! The wish list to help us with this project is still linked below if you would like to get in on the fun. Please take time to review the list and help us out if you are able to. We would really appreciate your help in updating our spaces for you, our Leopards, and our teachers.

Stock the Lounge:

We have one more month to fill, May. May is a very busy month for all of us. If you are able to help out, please see the flyer below and email me with the month you would like to sponsor.

PTO Live Auction for Parking Spots and First in Car Rider Line:

The auction for both is now open. The link to enter is below.

Buy Your Lamar Spirit Wear:

The PTO has spirit wear on sale now. I have included the link to the shop below. Get your swag now for back to school.

Please take time to check out the information below. Let me know if you have any questions or need any clarification on the information shared in The Limelight. Thanks!

Hugs,

Alison

School Meal Benefits

Board Policy CO (Local) Food and Nutrition Management permits students to charge meals for no more than 15-school days. Below are the recommended guidelines to follow when students have insufficient funds and/or exceed the 15-day charge limit.

  1. When a student’s account has a negative balance, once per week, the parent will receive notification by email and through Parent Access that their student has insufficient funds in their meal account.
  2. After 10-days of charges, the Child Nutrition Manager will refer the matter to the campus administration.
  3. Campus administration/counselors will contact the parent, verify the parent is aware of the situation, offer the school lunch program application, or other community resources, and help the parent finalize a plan to replenish the student’s account and clear all charges.
  4. Once the student has reached the 15-day charge limit no meals will be provided until the account is replenished, a payment plan has been initiated, or due to extenuating circumstances there is a campus administrative override to allow additional charges.

Applications for free and reduced-price meal service are available online at www.myschoolapps.com. Applications may be filled out anytime during the school year. Approval is based on federal guidelines. For more information, please call 936-709-8197.

Transportation

We are excited to inform you that preliminary bus route information is now available. You can check your child's estimated school bus stop times on the Conroe ISD Transportation website. Simply visit the site, scroll down to the "What Bus Do I Ride?" link, and follow the provided instructions. Note times will vary early in the year as auto and bus drivers familiarize themselves with traffic flow patterns.

Please be aware that the distance from your home to the bus stop may also vary depending upon your student's age/grade level. For more details regarding the School Board-approved Walk-to-Stop Distances, please refer to our Parent Guide to School Transportation.

If you have any further questions about school transportation services, feel free to reach out to the Transportation Department at (936) 709-7940.
