Happy December

A Message From Mr. Johnson:

Hello Sandhill Families,

Here are some updates as we head into the heart of December:

  • Brrr—it’s chilly! The next couple of weeks are expected to stay cold. Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Per the District's Administrative Guideline 5360, students will have outdoor recess as long as the wind chill is -5 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer. Thank you for helping keep everyone warm and ready for the outdoors!

  • Winter Break is just around the corner! School will be closed from Monday, December 23rd, through Friday, January 3rd, with classes resuming on Monday, January 6th.

  • We’ve started much of our Winter Benchmark Testing in Aimsweb+ or Fastbridge, depending on the grade and needs of each student. While this process aligns with Wisconsin’s Act 20 legislation, it’s something we’ve been doing for years. Our goal is to complete all testing by Winter Break so we can use the data to adjust small groups and provide targeted support when we return in January.

  • This past week, we held a Golden Stella Assembly to celebrate positive behavior across our classrooms in each area of the school. Congratulations to all of our students and classrooms for their hard work in being respectful, responsible, and safe!

  • Stuff the Stockings is in full swing at Sandhill! This event collects spare change to donate to the local Food Pantry, helping those in need during the holiday season. Thank you for your generosity!

  • Please note that there will be no 5th-grade orchestra on December 16th or December 18th.

  • Lastly, thank you to our Working For Kids group for supplying Staff Treats this week - they were delicious!

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Stay warm, and have a wonderful week!

Warm regards,
Bob / Mr. Johnson

WFK Updates

With just TWO weeks of school left until Winter Break, we still have lots of things going on! Please take a look below at some ways you can volunteer over these next few weeks. As always, thank you for supporting our school!

Giving Tree 2024 - Volunteers Needed!

We are proud to be partnering with the WFK groups from Kegonsa and Fox Prairie again this year to help make the holidays special for Stoughton families in need. Giving Trees can now be found at Next Generation, Wildwood, Stoughton Floral, Level Up Fitness, and Kicks Unlimited/Stoughton's Best Afterschool & Summer Camp.

Our Giving Tree will also be up during the Shop Small Saturday event on 11/30 and Victorian Holiday Market on 12/7, from 9am-5pm both days at Public Chorus House! For those two days, we are looking for volunteers to be present and answer any questions shoppers may have!

Volunteer for the Giving Tree on 11/30 or 12/7!

Pick a tag from one of these trees and drop off the unwrapped gifts at either Next Generation during their regular business hours or at Sandhill Elementary School during school hours. Unwrapped gifts need to be dropped off by Thursday, December 12! The tags have all the information you need regarding what you are shopping for.

Finally, we will be doing a gift sorting on Friday, December 13 at Sandhill! We need donations of wrapping paper and tape and are looking for a few volunteers to help sort gifts! This is a fun and easy way to help get involved and support families in our community!

Donate gift wrap or help with gift sorting!

VOLUNTEER FOR LUNCH DUTY!

If you are looking for an easy way to help out at school and spend some time with our students, consider volunteering during lunch and/or recess duty!

VOLUNTEER FOR STAFF SNACKS!

We REALLY appreciate all our amazing staff! They show up every day for our kids and go above and beyond for them. As a token of our appreciation, we provide yummy snacks in the TEAM Room on the first Friday of every month. Please take a look at the sign up if you would like to help out with Staff Snacks! Our next Staff Snacks is Friday, December 6!
