What is....Valentine's Day? What is....Valentine's Day?

By Olivia

Valentine's Day also known as St. Valentine's Day or the Feast of St. Valentine is celebrated every year on February 14 around the world. It originated as a Christian feast day, honoring the martyr, St. Valentine. It evolved to become a significant cultural celebration of romance and love around the world.

In America we celebrate by giving loved ones flowers and candy, and this is also true in France but it would be extra special to celebrate in Paris, France, the most romantic city in the world. Japan has added twist, because it's the men who are given chocolates by their loved ones. In Germany, they add pigs into the mix. Over the years chocolate shaped pigs have taken the place of real pigs, which symbolize loyalty.
