Hamilton WellnessNewsletterMay 2025

Hello from the Hamilton Wellness Team!

As we step into May and soak in the spring sunshine, we’re reminded of the natural rhythm of growth, renewal, and healing. The longer days and blooming landscapes offer a gentle invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and tend to our mental well-being.

May is also Mental Health Awareness Month—a meaningful time to reflect on how we care for ourselves and support those around us. Whether it’s through small acts of self-care or seeking deeper healing, every step matters.

At Hamilton Wellness, we’re here to walk alongside you with compassion, insight, and connection.

In this month’s newsletter, you’ll find helpful resources, thoughtful articles, and even a seasonal recipe to support your well-being during this time of transition and growth. Whether you're a current client or simply exploring support, we’re grateful to have you as part of our community.

Warmly,
The Hamilton Wellness Staff

🌿 May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Each May, we pause to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month—a time dedicated to reducing stigma, increasing understanding, and encouraging open conversations about mental well-being.

Mental health affects every one of us, whether through our own experiences or those of loved ones. This month is a powerful reminder that it’s okay to not be okay, and that seeking support is a sign of strength—not weakness.

At Hamilton Wellness, we believe that healing begins with connection. Whether you're managing anxiety, navigating life transitions, or simply seeking greater balance, our team is here to support you every step of the way.

Ways to honor Mental Health Awareness Month:

  • Check in with yourself and those around you.

  • Prioritize small, restorative moments each day.

  • Learn something new about mental health.

  • Reach out—whether to a friend, family member, or therapist.

This month, let’s commit to caring for our minds with the same compassion we offer our bodies.

How to Help Yourself Get Organized How to Help Yourself Get Organized

Realistic tips for young people. . .

Feeling disorganized can be overwhelming — like one small mistake could throw everything off. For kids with ADHD or executive functioning challenges, it’s not about trying harder; it’s about finding what works.

Start by spotting the main issues. Is it always losing keys? Forgetting homework? Focus on one problem at a time and create simple, workable solutions. A system doesn’t have to be perfect — just useful and easy to stick with.

Use tools that make life easier, like reminder apps or a key dish by the door. If something’s not working, try a new approach. Mistakes will happen, and that’s okay — just learn and move forward.

Getting organized takes effort, but it pays off. Start small, stay consistent — you’ve got this!

Organization Tools! Organization Tools!

Here a few different tools for organizing:

🧠 Brain Support Tools:

  • Reminders app (iPhone, Google Keep, Todoist): Schedule alerts so nothing slips through the cracks.

  • Visual timers (Time Timer, analog timers): Great for managing time during tasks or transitions.

  • Paper planner or digital calendar (Google Calendar, Cozi): Use color coding to organize tasks by category (school, home, etc.).

🏠 Home Organization Aids:

  • Key dish or hook near the door: Keeps essentials in one predictable spot.

  • Backpack station or cubby: A dedicated place for school supplies, packed the night before.

  • Whiteboard or chalkboard: Daily or weekly to-do lists visible at a glance.

📚 School & Homework Helpers:

  • Homework folder or binder system: Separate “to do” and “done” sections.

  • Checklist apps (Trello, Notion, Microsoft To Do): Break big assignments into steps.

  • Voice-to-text tools (built into phones or apps for quick notes when writing feels like a barrier.)

🧩 Focus & Motivation Tools:

  • Fidget tools (fidget cubes, putty): Help with focus while seated.

  • Noise-canceling headphones or background music apps aid concentration.

  • Gamified task apps (Habitica, Forest): Make getting things done more engaging.
