Ms. Mewes: Music
Over the past month in music class, our Kindergarten and 1st grade students have been busy exploring the four different kinds of voices: singing, speaking, whispering, and shouting. One highlight was using roller coasters they drew on the board to guide their singing voices up and down in fun and creative ways!
In 2nd grade, we focused on feeling and keeping a steady beat through movement and play. Students had a blast using rhythm sticks, Boomwhackers, and participating in a class favorite game, Beat Detective, where they listened closely and used their bodies to find the beat and follow a leader.
Music has been full of energy and exploration, and weâre excited for whatâs to come next month!
Mr. Brown: P.E.
Hello Mountain View Families,
We just wrapped up a very fun unit on soccer, focusing on technique, player position, and great sportsmanship. Kenai has been strong in soccer for many many years, so this is always a kid favorite. We're now moving into throwing and catching, focusing on the technical aspects of a good throw and catch. With my primary kiddos, we're also focusing on throwing and catching and throwing in a little bit of a school favorite: the rock wall!

Mrs. Torkelson: Library
September was full of excitement in the library! We set off on a dot-tastic adventure celebrating International Dot Day, creating amazing dot art now on display in the hallway outside the library. Our explorers also cast their votes in a dinosaur showdownâJurassic Park vs. Land Before Timeâand the Land Before Time dinos stomped their way to victory!
This monthâs poll takes us on a new adventure: Would you rather live in a treehouse high above the ground or in a bubble under the sea?
Kindergarteners have been on a letter journey, starting with A and traveling all the way to E. Families should keep an eye out for special âletter craftsâ making their way home from these adventures. Meanwhile, our 1st and 2nd grade readers have been exploring stories of friendship, learning how to be kind guides and welcoming adventurers to new friends in our school community.
The library is the place where every adventure beginsâwhether in a treehouse, under the sea, or between the pages of a book!

đ¨ Art Room Update â September đ
September has been a colorful month in the art room! Our young artists explored the elements of color and shape as we created beautiful watercolor leaves inspired by the changing season. Students learned about analogous colors and color harmony while using organic shapes to create unique leaf designs that reflect the beauty of fall.
Looking ahead, weâll be shifting our focus to the elements of value and form. Students will experiment with light and shadow to create depth and dimension in their artwork. Itâs always exciting to see their understanding of art deepen as they begin to see how value and form bring flat images to life!
