Message from the Principal - May 17, 2024
Hello Pyle Families,
We had a wonderful week of learning. This week our students were able to participate in hands-on STEAM activities with 3D printers and vinyl cutters, we have had some students go to the Tide Pools, other students went to the CA Science Center, sixth graders visited Knott's Berry Farm, all students were able to see an amazing Basketball show, fourth graders had the opportunity to try out for ensemble, and some students were recognized as our Student of the Month recipients.
Next week is Ernie Pyle's College and Career Week. Students will be invited to participate in Spirit Week dress-up activities and enjoy days at work videos, virtual college tours, job application information, and much more. Please see the flyer for more details.
Friday, May 24, and Monday 27, school will be closed for the Memorial Day holiday. Enjoy the four-day weekend!
It is time for our SPRING Parent Title 1 survey. Please take a minute to give us your feedback on our survey. Your valuable input will guide our planning for next year.
We are asking all parents of English Learners to complete our DELAC Needs Assessment survey to help us plan for next year.
If you have not yet completed the intent to return Google Form for the 2024-2025 school year please complete this to let us know if your student will be returning to Ernie Pyle in the fall. This helps us plan for classes so that we can have a great start to the year. https://tinyurl.com/Intent2Return24-25 You will not need to register your student again, they will automatically be enrolled in the next grade. If you live in another school zone and were sent to Ernie Pyle because your home school was full you will return to that school in the fall.

Order your yearbook while supplies last. Yearbooks will be available through the PTA until supply is sold out. The PTA will be at the front gate to sell yearbooks Wednesday's 7:45-8:30am and 1:26-2pm, Cash only. Please bring the exact amount as they may not be able to make change for you.

School Store
Ernie Pyle has partnered with "School Store." We have already had many families share this information with families and friends and students have earned reading buddy prizes to encourage their love of reading. Thank you to those of you who have already used the link provided to conduct your online shopping and to those of you who have donated gift cards to our classrooms. Students can continue turning in envelopes with the code earned from sharing 10 emails to earn their reading buddy all year long. Additional prizes can be earned by using our link to begin your everyday online shopping journey. We appreciate your support!

Safety First - Ernie Pyle verkada SIGN IN SYSTEM
All BUSD schools use the Verkada sign-in system. All visitors on campus will be asked to scan their ID to sign into our visitor management system and receive a sticker complete with the visitor's name and picture to let everyone on campus know that the person has signed in and is clear to be on campus. If you need to come onto campus for any reason please be sure to have your ID with you so that you can sign into our system.
FREE on the Ernie Pyle Campus - YMCA Before School Care
The YMCA has partnered with Ernie Pyle to provide free child care before school. This program through BUSD is offered at no cost to families, at all elementary sites. This program has a capacity of 30 students per school through YMCA. Students will be provided breakfast, engage in fun games and activities, and be able to connect with friends before school. If you would like to enroll in our before-school program, please CLICK HERE and be sure to complete one Google form for each student. After you have completed the registration link, you will be contacted by the YMCA to complete any additional needed enrollment forms. At this time, we have not exceeded program capacity and still have spaces available.
