MMS Monthly Memo

MIDDLE SCHOOL MONTHLY MEMO
Families and Guardians of our Middle School Students
We are off to a GREAT start at Marshall Middle School.
We had an outstanding turnout at our Open House and Picture Day. It was wonderful to see so many of you attend the administrative-led informational sessions in the cafeteria. Your support and enthusiasm for the upcoming school year shows!
Our first week of school was very positive. On the first day, we held a welcome back event in the gym for our entire student body. It was an opportunity for everyone to connect and set a positive tone for the year ahead. Additionally, the administration conducted grade level meetings with all students to communicate the expectations for the year, go through our discipline policy, and explain the new cell phone procedures, “Away for the Day”. It was a great way to get everyone on the same page, as we start the 24-25 school year.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year with our amazing student body and dedicated staff. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community! We hope to see you all, again, at our parent/teacher conferences coming up on October 10.
As you read through our monthly newsletter, please feel free to reach out if you need clarification or have questions. We are happy to help!
Ms. Reynolds, Principal
Mr. Appel, Assistant Principal

GRADE LEVEL NEWSLETTERS
STUDENT AND VEHICLE SAFETY
- Please drop off and pick up your child at the front main entrance. Do not use the back of the building for drop off or pick up.
- Please do not drop off your child in the parking lot. With the traffic from the drop off or pick up lane, it is unsafe for your child to cross to the sidewalk. We want to ensure the safety of all.
- Please do not park behind the Middle School. With deliveries truck and maintenance vehicles going back and forth, that area is for authorized vehicles only. Also, students should not be using the service road as a sidewalk as there is a designated sidewalk between buildings. We are asking all of this for the safety of the students and parents.
- We have had some drivers not stopping once the flashers are going on the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB). We also have some cars in the morning driving a little fast and people on their phones.
FROM NURSE'S OFFICE
MMS is pleased to welcome our new nurse, Brooke Halbur, and her assistant, Tanya Martin. Ms. Halbur will be available in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while Ms. Martin will be covering Mondays and Fridays.
Here are a few things they would like for you to know.
1) Please let the nurse know:
- If your student has any new health concerns or conditions, including allergies.
- If your student has a health condition listed that is no longer relevant, please remove it from Campus.
2) A form is required for medications at school. This pertains to both over the counter (OTC) medications and prescription medications. OTC medications may be brought in and stored here for use in case of headaches, stomachaches, etc.
3) Immunizations! Your student MUST be up to date on ALL required immunizations, or a conscious exempt form is on file.

FROM THE TECH DEPARTMENT
In our digital age, every aspect of human life is evolving rapidly, driven by the power of computing and human ingenuity. As technology continues to transform society at an exponential rate, how can we prepare 21st-century students to navigate such an uncertain future?
Marshall Public Schools is committed to this challenge. By working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, and the community, we strive to create a digital environment that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. Our goal is to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to shape their own futures, pursue their passions, and embrace lifelong learning.
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to read through the digital learning handbook.
